Transfer news and rumours LIVE: Man City eye Brighton's Bissouma as Fernandinho replacement

90' + 2' The fourth official indicates five minutes of stoppage time will be added.

82' Yarmolenko steals the ball from the foot of Salah and goes on a winding run through midfield, ending on the opposite flank inside Liverpool’s half. It’s smart from the striker who manages to buy his side time to step up. They’ve been under immense pressure, and those few moments allow for some reorganisation.

80' With 10 minutes remaining, Liverpool will at least feel enthused that the spaces are opening up in West Ham’s defence. It’s been a much better second-half performance by the hosts, who have clearly been spurred on by the ticking clock.

78' Jota finds the back of the net but it’s wiped away after a lengthy VAR check! Mane’s shot from close range is parried by Fabianski, but only as far as the edge of his six-yard box. The forward looks to follow the effort up and slides into a challenge with both Ogbonna and the goalkeeper. It squirms out to Jota who finishes it comfortably in the open net -  but the referee deems that the Liverpool striker’s sliding pass was reckless, and therefore a foul. We remain level at 1-1.

76' Diogo Jota has scored in both of his Premier League games for Liverpool at Anfield – the last player to score in each of their first three at home for the Reds in the competition was Luis García in October 2004.

72' Fornals hits a switch from left to right in hopes of finding an unmarked Bowen, but Gomez allows himself to go wide in order to win the header and reclaim possession before pushing forward again in search of a winner.

69' Henderson sprays a phenomenal pass wide to Robertson inside the penalty area, but the volleyed effort towards goal from an acute angle is parried well by Fabianski before it’s put out by West Ham desperately for a Liverpool throw-in.

67' West Ham look to be getting changes ready on the touchline, as Yarmolenko receives his instructions. Haller has failed to impress in the opening 67 minutes, but the match is still there to be won.

65' Fornals gets through into the penalty area but forces a shot which is blocked by three converging Liverpool defenders. Bowen - who was up in support - does not look happy at the option taken as perhaps he could have been played through on-goal.

63' Play is stopped momentarily for Cresswell, who is in need of treatment after awkwardly lunging for the ball and ending up in the splits. He should be okay to continue, but there won’t be a player on the pitch who won’t understand the need for a minute’s pause.

61' Gomez looks to capitalise on a bit of confusion in the West Ham defence, but his launched pass for Mane is just out of the forward’s reach - rolling out for a goal-kick.

59' West Ham have lost 21 of their 24 Premier League away games against reigning champions (W1 D2), with their only victory coming in December 2001 against Manchester United at Old Trafford (1-0).

57' Phillips chips a clever pass over the top of the West Ham defence for Salah, but Cresswell is there to win possession before Fornals is able to win a throw-in and slow play down in order to reorganise.

55' West Ham continue to make careless errors as Ogbonna’s pass out to the left for Masuaku isn’t tracked by the left-back, who allows it to roll out for a Liverpool throw.

53' West Ham fail to get it clear after Masuaku’s poor clearance, allowing Liverpool to continue to press into the opponent’s 18-yard box. A ball-winning tackle from Masuaku saves his blushes and allows him to find a pass to Bowen in-space.

51' Alexander-Arnold wraps his foot around the ball, curling a lovely delivery into the penalty area in search of a leaping Mane, but again the goalkeeper gets to it first.

50' It's a clever free-kick from Liverpool, as Robertson fakes a kick and gets the West Ham line to move, before clipping it over the top for Salah. The finish doesn't meet the required standard though, as Salah's backwards header is comfortably smothered by Fabianski.

48' Jones slaloms through midfield and attempts a pass through, into the penalty area for Firmino. It’s a good idea, but an alert Fabianski rushes off his line to gather the ball at the foot of the striker.

Liverpool get the match restarted from the kick-off!

Despite looking rather assured in defence, West Ham have looked toothless going forward as they’ve struggled to get the numbers required up the pitch. With Benrahma and Lanzini both ready and waiting - Moyes will have the option to go for a second goal should he need to. For Klopp, midweek match-winner Jota, as well as Shaqiri and Minamino could all prove useful as Liverpool search for the goal that would give them a three-point cushion over Everton ahead of tomorrow.

The first 45 minutes comes to a close with the two sides level at 1-1. Fornals’ opener after 10 minutes gave West Ham the cushion they needed to sit back and defend in a low block, keeping all 11  men in their own half. Liverpool looked short of answers as Henderson and Jones lacked the necessary incision to break down the defence - but a rather fortunate challenge from Masuaku on Salah gave the hosts the chance they needed to get back into the match. Salah’s conversion from the spot levelled the contest three minutes before the whistle - erasing a half-hours worth of defensive diligence from the Hammers.

45' + 2' HALF-TIME: LIVERPOOL 1-1 WEST HAM.

44' The fourth official indicates two additional minutes will be added to the end of the first half for stoppages.

40' PENALTY TO LIVERPOOL! Masuaku goes across to defend Salah, but catches the strikers’ leg and not the ball - sending the Egypt international to the ground in a heap. It’s a bit exaggerated - but there was contact nonetheless as Liverpool are given a chance to equalise from the spot!

38' Alexander-Arnold takes a free-kick just outside the 18, but it crashes into the wall. Robertson collects the loose ball, but Rice does well to keep him from turning - and wins back possession.

36' Robertson forces a volleyed effort after Mane’s cross from the far side of the penalty area, but the chance sails high and harmlessly over the bar.

34' A short-worked free-kick for Liverpool ends extremely disappointingly after the short pass to Salah is fed back to Robertson, who is dispossessed on the edge of the 18. A quick West Ham counter-attack brings it down to Alisson’s box, but last-ditch defending saves the goalkeeper from having to spring into action.

32' Jones, Robertson and Mane combine well down the left to open up some space, but the referee’s whistle brings the action to an end as a carelessly taken up position forces the fourth official to raise his flag for offside.

30' With every attack, Liverpool are being allowed to comfortably walk into the West Ham half as their opponents are virtually ceding them half the field. Haller has rarely initiated a press, instead choosing to sit back and wait for the eventual balls in-behind to Salah and Mane, which have been dealt with superbly thus far.

28' Jones wins possession in midfield after a throw, but his long, searching pass for Mane is whacked out of the air by a leaping Ogbonna - not for the first time in this match.

26' Henderson is again forced to pass it square to Robertson - who in-turn sends it back to the defence. It’s been a lacklustre performance in the opening 30 minutes from Liverpool, who are short of ideas without a number of first-choice midfielders.

24' HENDERSON GOES WIDE! Salah’s leading pass sends Mane into the penalty area, but he’s unable to force a shot after West Ham’s defenders converge inside the 18. The ball is pushed out to the Liverpool captain, who slashes a shot inches wide of the post!

22' Henderson flicks a cross into the penalty area, but without a team-mate attacking it, Balbuena is able to clear it without too much trouble.

20' Despite having a dominant share of possession, Liverpool have done very little with it, failing to even register a shot. Without someone able to pick apart the spaces in midfield, it’s going to be very difficult for the hosts to find a way through the low block.

18' Robertson sends a corner into the penalty area looking for Gomez, but Masuaku gets the first touch to the ball before Rice is able to put it out of play for a throw-in.

16' Fornals has scored in his last two PL appearances at Anfield against Liverpool.

14' Alexander-Arnold lays off a free-kick on the left for Robertson, but the left-back’s delivery to the far post for Salah is poor - forcing the forward into too tight a space.

12' Liverpool look to answer immediately through Salah, but Fornals and Cresswell combine to clear the danger as the Hammers look to stabilise following their breakthrough.

9' Coufal shapes a lovely cross from the right for Haller, but Phillips gets involved for the first time today - putting it out for a corner. The ensuing set-piece is extremely disappointing for the Hammers, as it’s taken to the far post, but an alert Alexander-Arnold can watch it roll out for a goal-kick.

7' Alexander-Arnold tries to put a cross into the area for Mane, but a diving Balbuena repels the attack at the first opportunity.

5' Liverpool are having trouble finding room to operate in the middle of the park, as West Ham’s three midfielders are doing well to stay organised and block the lanes. The Hammers haven’t been able to find much success of their own - choosing to just blast it down the field at any opportunity.

3' Salah receives Alexander-Arnold’s pass down the right flank, but a touch-tight Ogbonna squeezes the space and shields it out for a goal-kick.

1' West Ham get the match underway from the kick-off!

West Ham make a single, enforced change from their 1-1 draw with Manchester City as an injury to Michail Antonio allows Haller to start at striker.

Liverpool make two changes from their 2-1 victory over Sheffield United, with two youngsters introduced into the starting XI. An injury to Fabinho in midweek sees Phillips take his spot in defence, while a change in formation necessitates an extra midfielder - which is why Jones is favoured over Jota.

WEST HAM SUBS: Said Benrahma, Darren Randolph, Robert Snodgrass, Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop, Andriy Yarmolenko, Manuel Lanzini.

WEST HAM XI (5-4-1): Lukasz Fabianski; Vladimir Coufal, Fabian Balbuena, Angelo Ogbonna, Aaron Cresswell, Arthur Masuaku; Jarrod Bowen, Tomas Soucek, Declan Rice, Pablo Fornals; Sebastien Haller.

LIVERPOOL SUBS: Xherdan Shaqiri, Adrian, James Milner, Takumi Minamino, Neco Williams, Diogo Jota, Rhys Williams.

LIVERPOOL XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Andrew Robertson, Nathaniel Phillips, Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold; Georginio Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson, Curtis Jones; Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah.

With 15 minutes to go before kick-off, let's look at how the two sides will line up - starting with the hosts!

David Moyes brings his West Ham side to familiar surroundings, as the former Everton and Manchester United manager has been to Anfield 16 times in his career but has yet to win - losing nine times and drawing seven. It’s been just over five years since the Hammers last took three points home from Liverpool - though recent results against the big sides have been positive for today’s visitors: beating Leicester and earning draws with Spurs and Manchester City in their last five matches.

Liverpool have made it three wins on the bounce in all competitions after a 2-0 midweek win against Midtjylland in the Champions League. Should they make it four, Jurgen Klopp’s side will go temporarily top of the table by themselves - at least until Everton’s clash with Newcastle tomorrow. Despite the absence of Virgil Van Dijk the Reds defence has held firm, conceding just once in the three matches since his injury.

Champions League last 16 TV guide: How to watch PSG and Chelsea in UK, USA and Canada

Hakim Ziyech opened the scoring and set up Timo Werner to round it off as Chelsea earned a comfortable victory away at Burnley on Saturday.

Hakim Ziyech produced a stellar display as Chelsea overcame Burnley 3-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.

Injuries delayed Ziyech's introduction to the Chelsea team, but he followed up his goal in the 4-0 Champions League win over Krasnodar in midweek by registering the opener at Turf Moor.

Kurt Zouma had a couple of sloppy moments in the first half but there was no doubt about the powerful header he produced to double the visitors' lead in the 63rd minute.

Ziyech then teed up Timo Werner – who only started due to an injury Christian Pulisic sustained in the warm-up – to hand Burnley a fourth straight home Premier League defeat for the first time since April 2010.

Ashley Barnes collided with Edouard Mendy after lifting a shot over the goalkeeper and the crossbar in the fifth minute, though referee David Coote did not deem it worthy of a penalty.

Nor did the official point to the spot when Ben Chilwell was nudged out from under Reece James' cross by Josh Brownhill, with play continuing and Nick Pope having to tip a looping Tammy Abraham header behind.

After Zouma stopped Barnes punishing his error near the halfway line, Pope was caught out when Ziyech fired a low drive from the edge of the box through Dale Stephens' legs and into the bottom-right corner in the 26th minute.

James Tarkowski made an important intervention to deny Werner a tap-in before half-time, but he was lost at sea when Zouma rose to steer Mason Mount's corner into the net.

Burnley unravelled and after Ashley Westwood's cross-field ball was intercepted by James, Ziyech slid a pass through for Werner to put the game to bed in the 70th minute.

What does it mean? Lampard making strides with defence

Chelsea let in at least two against Liverpool, West Brom and Southampton this season but have now kept a clean sheet in each of their past four outings.

Their shutout at Old Trafford last weekend was just their second on their travels in the Premier League under Frank Lampard – they have now achieved back-to-back clean sheets on the road in the top flight for the first time since October 2018.

Mendy replacing Kepa Arrizabalaga has helped tighten things up, with the former Rennes keeper emulating club great Petr Cech, who, in August 2004, was the last Blues keeper to avoid conceding in each of his first three Premier League appearances.

Hakim the dream

Ziyech became the first Chelsea player since Diego Costa in 2014 to score in both of his first two starts in all competitions, but he also provided a display of the range of passing that makes him such a threat from the wing.

Toothless Clarets

Burnley delivered nine crosses from open play but failed to register a single shot on target. Of the five attempts they did muster, only one of them came from inside the box. Sean Dyche's side lack a cohesive plan going forward and a trip to Turf Moor no longer represents the tough challenge it used to.

Key Opta Facts

- Chelsea have won six of their seven away Premier League matches against Burnley (D1), winning each of their last four in a row.
- Burnley have picked up just one point in their opening six league games this season, their worst ever start to a league season in their history.
- Edouard Mendy has conceded just one goal in six appearances for Chelsea in all competitions – Kepa Arrizabalaga has conceded 14 goals in his past six appearances for the Blues.
- Since the start of last season, Ziyech has been directly involved in 30 goals in 40 matches in all competitions across spells with Ajax and Chelsea (11 goals, 19 assists).
- Ziyech is the first player to score and assist on his first Premier League start since Ruben Neves in August 2018, and the third African player to ever do so, after Mohamed Salah and Dame N'Doye.

What's next?

Chelsea are back in Champions League action at home to Rennes on Wednesday, while Burnley have a Premier League trip to Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday to look forward to.

Amavubi will visit the Atlantic Ocean Islanders for the third match of Group G looking for the first win

Rwanda head coach Vincent Mashami is set to miss Solomon Nirisarike for the Cape Verde Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier after testing positive for the coronavirus.

Nirisarike has already started the mandatory 14-day self-isolation, a process that has automatically ruled him out of the upcoming qualifier in November.

“Unfortunately he won’t be a part of the team, he is Covid-19 positive and that will take up to two weeks or more to recover,” Rwanda’s team manager Jackson Rutayisire told The New Times.

“The coach has enough alternatives in his position, I think his absence will not do much harm.”

Nirisarike, playing for Pyunik of Armenia, is among the 10 foreign-based players that were called up – in a provisional squad that comprises 37 players - for the upcoming qualifiers.

The first qualifier will be held on November 11 in Praia before the return leg six days later in Kigali.

Amavubi are yet to win a game in Group G that also has Cameroon and Mozambique. They lost 2-0 to OS Mambas before going down 2-1 to the Indomitable Lions almost one year ago.

Simba SC’s Meddie Kagere was the first foreign-based player to join the squad on Wednesday while the US-based central defender Abdul Rwatubyaye was expected to jet in on Thursday, October 29.

Steven Rubanguka – who is based in Greece and earned his first call-up – is expected at the national team’s camp on November 1.

Haruna Niyonzima, Ally Niyonzima, Kevin Muhire, Djihad Bizimana and Yannick Mukunzi are the other foreign-based stars expected in camp before November 4 to boost Mashami’s winless side.

Meanwhile, 11 national players from Rwandan Premier League champions APR are expected to remain with the club until November 2.

APR were declared winners of the league when it was cancelled by Ferwafa mid this year due to the coronavirus pandemic and that gave them the automatic Caf Champions League slot.

The army outfit was allowed to start training for the continental competition since early October.

The exclusion of their players from the national side’s initial training sessions is also meant to give them ample time to train at club level.

Merseyside derby referee: Simon Hooper's record in Liverpool & Everton matches

The Belgian had to wait almost 400 days for his second strike in Madrid colours, and it proved one to remember

Eden Hazard was delighted to score a "beautiful goal" for Real Madrid after a year-long drought as Emilio Butragueno hailed the forward as "magnificent".

Hazard blasted home with his weaker foot from nearly 30 yards out to give the Spanish champions the lead over Huesca on Saturday.

Zinedine Zidane's men eased to a 4-1 victory that moved them back to the top of the table, with Karim Benzema scoring twice and Federico Valverde also on the scoresheet.

It was Hazard's strike that will be best remembered, though, as it ended a wait of 392 days for just his second goal for Madrid since joining from Chelsea for an initial €100 million (£88m/$112m) in 2019.

Hazard was beaming as he recorded a short video message for fans that was posted on Twitter by Madrid after the match.

"Hi, guys! I'm just happy to be back on a pitch, [and] score a beautiful goal,"  the Belgium international said.

"That's for you. I hope to see you soon."

Hazard did not create a chance for team-mates or produce a cross in his hour on the pitch against Huesca, but his link-up play with Benzema was encouraging throughout and one such move led to Valverde's emphatic third goal, leaving Zidane pleased with what he saw.

"We are happy with Hazard's game and happy with what we did today. He has no discomfort, he is happy with his goal, his teammates are happy with him. It's a victory, it's four goals, three points and you have to be happy," the coach said.

Real's director of institutional relations and former star striker Butragueno was also thrilled with the performance of the Belgium star.

"What Hazard did was magnificent. We saw that in the first goal," he told Movistar after the game. "It gives you an idea of the category of player we're talking about.

"From then on, the team felt more comfortable. Being effective up top helps the game to go how you want it to.

"He has had back luck since he came due to injuries. He's a winner and what he wants is to be out on the pitch and helping the team. Hopefully, we can have him like this because he makes the difference."

Marquinhos 'cannot explain' Monaco and Leipzig collapses as he calls for PSG focus

The defending champions had lost out on six points in their last two matches and were keen on winning at Shamba la Bibi

Simba SC put together a five-star performance to beat Mwadui FC 5-0 in a one-sided Tanzania Mainland League game staged at Uhuru Stadium on Saturday.

John Bocco scored a brace, while Ibrahim Ajibu, Hassan Dilunga, and Said Hamisi Ndemla scored a goal each to send their team back to third on the table.

The defending champions came into the match desperate for maximum points after registering unsatisfying outcomes in their last two games.

The Wekundu wa Msimbazi, who were looking unstoppable when the 2019/20 campaign started, have now lost two matches in a row - a 1-0 defeat against Tanzania Prisons before falling to Ruvu Shooting by the same margin two days ago.

The visitors were also keen on getting at least a point, after falling 6-1 to JKT Tanzania.

With Azam FC also dropping five points from their last two matches, the hosts aimed at capitalizing on the leaders' slip-up.

It took the 21-time champions just 26 minutes to open the scoring. Captain Bocco, who missed a crucial penalty in Simba's last game, managed to find the back of the net after capitalizing on poor marking by the defenders.

Zambian Clatous Chama had chested the ball to his skipper, and the latter took a one-time shot which gave the goalkeeper no chance.

The Shinyanga-based side looked lost and they were lucky not to have gone down by more than one goal in the first half.

In the 65th minute, the Taifa Stars striker was at it again, finishing a good move by the team to complete his double.

Mwadui were slowly getting lost and were outplayed by the champions, and it came as little surprise when Ajibu scored the third for his team in the 82nd minute.

Five minutes later, the Msimbazi-based charges managed to get their fourth through Dilunga.

The Sven Vandenbroeck-led charges were not yet done and in stoppage time, they managed to make a statement when Ndemla hit the fifth to ensure his team gets a 5-0 win.

The last 9 players to wear Chelsea's 'cursed number 9 shirt' - Who were they and where are they now?

The Manchester City head coach addressed speculation over his future after watching his side beat Sheffield United in the Premier League on Saturday

Pep Guardiola has ruled out the possibility of returning to Camp Nou, insisting his "period as Barcelona manager is over".

Speculation over Guardiola's future at Manchester City is beginning to intensify as he approaches the last six months of his current contract.

The Spaniard has opened the door to extending his stay at Etihad Stadium, but says he must earn the right to remain in the hot seat by overseeing a successful 2020-21 campaign.

It has been suggested that Guardiola could make his way back to Catalonia if he leaves Manchester next summer, with Barca presidential candidate Victor Font eager to arrange a reunion between the 49-year-old and Lionel Messi.

"It is our intention to build a very strong and competitive project and we are very lucky at Barca that we inherited a style of play that Johan Cruyff instilled throughout the organisation, and most of the best professionals who know about this style are also fans and love the club - like Pep Guardiola, Xavi, [Andres] Iniesta, [Carlos] Puyol," Font told Sky Sports earlier this week.

"They are all legends that love Barcelona but do not work for Barca today - we need to bring them back to ensure we will have a very competitive project."

Guardiola began his coaching career at Camp Nou, winning 14 major trophies between 2008 and 2012, including three La Liga titles and two Champions League crowns.

He created arguably one of the greatest club sides in history during that period, getting the best out of the likes of Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique while implementing his 'tiki-taka' philosophy.

However, the City boss insists he has closed the book on his chapter at Barca once and for all, and that he will only return to the club as a fan.

"My period as Barcelona manager is over. I think once in a lifetime you have to do things," Guardiola said after watching the Blues beat Sheffield United 1-0 at Bramall Lane on Saturday afternoon.

"There are incredible people who can be in charge there, now for example Ronald Koeman. It's over, I will come back to my city to see my club, to watch the game, it's done."

City have moved up to seventh in the Premier League after their win over the Blades, with a Champions League group stage clash against Olympiacos up next for Guardiola's men on Tuesday.

Barca, meanwhile, will be looking to build on an impressive European victory away at Juventus when they take on Alaves this weekend.

Jurgen Klopp admits turning down Bayern Munich multiple times

The 22-year-old was replaced by Timo Werner for the encounter against Burnley at Turf Moor

Christian Pulisic was withdrawn from the Chelsea starting XI to face Burnley after he sustained an injury in the pre-match warm-up.

Timo Werner has taken the 22-year-old winger's place in the team.

The United States international missed Chelsea's first three Premier League games of the season due to a hamstring injury, but was included in the first 11 for the draws against Southampton, Sevilla and Manchester United.

He was brought on in the second half of the Blues' 4-0 win at Russian side Krasnodar in the Champions League in midweek and netted the final goal of the game in stoppage time.

The former Borussia Dortmund star was set to line up on the left wing in support of striker Tammy Abraham in Saturday's Premier League encounter at Turf Moor, but picked up a knock and had to be replaced.

Speaking ahead of Pulisic's injury, Frank Lampard admitted that the busy fixture schedule has made life tough for his team and said he would have preferred Saturday's game to be moved to Sunday to allow his players to recover from the trip back from Russia

"It's given us some difficulties," he said. "The game has stayed as a Saturday 3pm kick-off when maybe it could have been pushed back to tomorrow, given we arrived back at 5am on Thursday morning.

"So there are problems but we have a squad and you can see that with the starting line-up. There are fresh legs in there from the team the other day so we just have to come here and try to be at our best."

Chelsea have nine points from their first six Premier League games of the season and sit 11th in the table, while Burnley are in the relegation zone with one point ahead of Saturday's match.

After the clash with Burnley, Lampard's side will return to Champions League action when they face Ligue 1 side Rennes at Stamford Bridge on November 4.

Balotelli completes move to Serie B side Monza

Real Madrid returned to the top of LaLiga by beating Huesca, as Eden Hazard scored his first goal since last October.

Eden Hazard scored his first Real Madrid goal for more than a year as the LaLiga champions eased to a 4-1 win over Huesca.

Making his first league appearance of the season, the Belgium star opened the scoring in brilliant fashion before Karim Benzema doubled the lead at Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.

Federico Valverde scored the third after some fine interplay between Benzema and Hazard, who looked sharp throughout his hour on the pitch, before David Ferreiro's consolation.

Much of the pre-game talk had centred on Benzema and a recording of him appearing to tell Ferland Mendy not to pass to Vinicius Junior during the Champions League draw with Borussia Monchengladbach, and the striker should have scored his side's fourth when teed up by substitute Vinicius in what would have capped an improved Madrid display.

Benzema eventually got his second in the 90th minute, nodding in from Rodrygo's header across goal.

An obstinate Huesca kept Madrid at bay for much of the first half, although Sergio Ramos – making his 500th appearance in LaLiga – saw a header saved by Andres Fernandez.

The breakthrough came 40 minutes, as Hazard produced a moment of true brilliance too rarely seen in a Madrid shirt, rolling away from Kelechi Nwakali's challenge and blasting a left-footed shot beyond Fernandez from nearly 30 yards out.

Benzema doubled the lead just before the interval, chesting down Lucas Vazquez's deep cross before drilling a finish into the bottom-right corner.

Huesca started the second positively but the threat of a comeback was quashed 53 minutes in. After Hazard and Benzema had combined superbly down the left, the latter crossed for Valverde to take a touch and hammer home from 12 yards.

Benzema and Isco missed chances for a fourth before Ferreiro scored a consolation, steering a finish past Thibaut Courtois from Rafa Mir's cross, but Benzema had the final word when he turned in Rodrygo's header from point-blank range.

What does it mean? Hazard looks sharp again as Madrid return to top

The victory moved Madrid back to the summit of LaLiga, two points clear of Real Sociedad after seven games each.

It also marked an impressive return to form for Hazard and Zinedine Zidane's side as a whole, as they once again followed up a disappointing performance in Europe with a much-improved domestic display.

Huesca, one of just two sides without a LaLiga win this season, are 18th after eight games.

Hazard levels rising

This was not a virtuoso Hazard performance: he created zero chances for team-mates, produced no crosses and only had one shot on target.

However, that solitary strike earned him his first goal in 392 days and seemed to breathe some life into his link-up with Benzema. Zidane will be encouraged.

Right-back worries

Auxiliary right-back Lucas Vazquez was taken off after 52 minutes and did not seem to be wholly comfortable. Given injuries to Dani Carvajal and Nacho, any further concerns in that position will be most unwelcome to Zidane.

Key Opta facts

- Hazard has scored his second goal for Madrid in all competitions (24 appearances), the other coming in October 2019 against Granada, 392 days ago.
- Madrid have scored four goals in a single game in all competitions for the first time since February 2020 and for the first time in a match at home this year.
-  Ramos has become the 10th player to reach 500 appearances in LaLiga history (461 for the Madrid and and 39 for Sevilla) and the third defender to reach this milestone, after Manolo Sanchis (523) and Miguel Soler (504).
- Benzema has been involved in 13 goals in his last 13 starts in all competitions, scoring nine goals and assisting four.
- Huesca coach Michel Sanchez has lost nine of his 10 LaLiga games against Madrid (D1), two as manager and seven during his playing career (D1 L7).

What's next?

Madrid host Inter in the Champions League on Tuesday before next Sunday's visit to Mestalla to meet Valencia. Huesca have a week off until they host Eibar.

MTN8: Orlando Pirates 3-0 Kaizer Chiefs: Lorch-inspired Buccaneers thrash Amakhosi

Thembinkosi Lorch grabbed an assist and scored a goal as Bucs recorded their first win over the Glamour Boys in almost two years

Orlando Pirates secured an impressive 3-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8 semi-final first-leg match which was played at Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Zakhele Lepasa marked his debut in the Soweto Derby with a goal, before Vincent Pule and Thembinkosi Lorch netted to inspire Bucs to their maiden win over Amakhosi since November 2018.

Coach Josef Zinnbauer made six changes to the team which took on Stellenbosch FC in midweek with Thembinkosi Lorch making his return to the starting line-up.

However, Pirates' most capped player in the Soweto Derby, Happy Jele was surprisingly dropped to the bench, while Thabang Monare made his debut for the Buccaneers.

On the other hand, Zinnbauer's counterpart, Gavin Hunt, who was taking charge of his first Soweto Derby match, made one change to the team which faced Chippa United in midweek.

Ramahlwe Mphahlele replaced Reeve Frosler in the right-back position, while 20-year-old sensation Nkosingiphile Ngcobo kept his place in starting line-up after impressing against the Chilli Boys.

Chiefs were the better side in the opening exchanges with Khama Billiat causing havoc for the Pirates defence with his blistering pace and movement down the left-hand side.

The 30-year-old forward should have scored after beating two Bucs defence, but his effort hit the crossbar from a one-on-one situation with goalkeeper Richard Ofori.

Billiat then got on his bike as he attacked the left channel, before setting up Leonardo Castro, who failed to hit the back of the net from close range as he placed his effort wide of the target.

Amakhosi were left rue those two big chances as Buccaneers broke the deadlock when Terrence Dzvukamanja's cross was headed home by Zakhele Lepasa to make it 1-0 to Pirates in the 26th minute.

The visitors pushed for the equalizing goal, but an unmarked Siyabonga Ngezana failed to direct his header towards goal and the score was 1-0 to Pirates at the interval.

Amakhosi found it difficult to penetrate the Bucs backline in the opening stages of the second-half with Thulani Hlatshwayo looking solid at the heart of the hosts' defence.

Hunt reacted by introducing Bernard Parker and Happy Mashiane as the visitors looked to restore parity and get an important away goal.

However, Pirates continued to attack and they managed to double their lead when Lorch set-up  Vincent Pule, who turned inside the box, before scoring with a low shot to make it 2-0 to Pirates in the 67th minute.

Chiefs pushed forward in numbers as they looked to pull one back, but they were left vulnerable at the back and they were punished by Lorch following a quick counter-attack.

Second-half substitute Deon Hotto set-up Lorch , who outpaced Mashiane, before firing past Chiefs keeper Daniel Akpeyi to seal Pirates' emphatic 3-0 victory over Chiefs in the 81st minute.

Pirates will take a 3-0 aggregate lead into the second-leg encounter which is set to take place at Chiefs' home ground, FNB Stadium on November 08.

USMNT pulls away from Oman with late charge

The Morocco and the Senegal internationals have been included in the Blues starting XI against the Clarets

Hakim Ziyech and Edouard Mendy have been handed starting roles for Chelsea against Burnley in Saturday’s Premier League game.

Mendy will be making his sixth appearance for the Stamford Bridge outfit across all competitions since teaming up with the side from Ligue 1 club Rennes in the summer.

The Senegal goalkeeper has hit the ground running since his arrival, helping Frank Lampard’s men to keep clean sheets in four of the five games he has featured in.

The 28-year-old also starred for the Blues in their Champions League victory over Krasnodar on Wednesday and has continued to enjoy the confidence of Lampard.

Ziyech, meanwhile, is also another summer arrival at Stamford Bridge and has been handed his second start for the club following his impressive performance against Krasnodar.

The winger opened his account in the encounter to help the Blues secure their second consecutive win in the competition.

The African stars have subsequently been included in Chelsea’s starting XI for their game against Sean Dyche’s men at Turf Moor.

Chelsea are currently 11th on the Premier League table after gathering nine points from six matches following two wins, three draws and one loss.

The Blues finished fourth last season in the English top-flight and are aiming to compete for the title in the 2020-21 season.

The summer arrivals, who have been recruited as part of the Blues’ plan to realize their target, will hope to help the club clinch all three points at Turf Moor.

Marquinhos earns Brazil late WCQ win over Peru

The Portugal star could make his first appearance since late-September after testing negative for Covid-19

Cristiano Ronaldo will be included in Juventus' squad for the Serie A match against Spezia on Sunday, but is unlikely to start, coach Andrea Pirlo says.

The attacker has not played for the Italian champions since they drew 2-2 with Roma in late September, having tested positive for Covid-19 while on international duty with Portugal.

Juventus confirmed on Friday that the 35-year-old returned a negative test and has been cleared to feature in the clash with the Ligurian side, but Pirlo does not expect him to play the full 90 minutes.

"He arrived negative on the second swab and this morning he trained individually," Pirlo told reporters.

"He will be with the team. I don't believe he will play from the beginning. The important thing is having him. He trained at home, it's very important that we take him with us."

Argentine attacker Paulo Dybala has made only three appearances for the Bianconeri this season, having started last week's draw at home to Hellas Verona in the Italian top-flight and the 2-0 loss against Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old is currently in talks over a new contract with the club and Pirlo has denied the negotiations are the reason for his absence in the first four weeks of the campaign.

"It's only a physical question," Pirlo said. "I always said he wasn’t at 100 per cent. The first time you come back you do well, the second game is more exhausting. He just needs time to train and recover his full fitness.

"He has to find his rhythm, to not think about the voices around his renewal but only to do well."

Spezia have five points from as many games in Serie A this term, while Juventus have nine points and are unbeaten in the league, and Pirlo says his side cannot afford to underestimate Sunday's opponents.

"We are taking on a newly promoted squad that is playing well," he added.

"I know [Spezia coach] Vincenzo Italiano, we did the coaching course together. I know the type of squad he puts out. We must play a great match and bring points home."

Liverpool expected to return to Budapest for home leg against RB Leipzig

36' Chilwell tries to switch play out to Havertz on the right when he spots him in space, but there's not enough on the pas. Tarkowski reads it well and intercepts the pass to clear the danger.

34' Ziyech is the first player to score in both of his first two starts for Chelsea in all competitions since Diego Costa in August 2014.

32' Tarkowski goes to ground on the edge of the box when McNeil swings a free-kick into the box and he looks straight to the referee. There wasn't much in it though and he points for a corner instead.

30' Burnley just can't get out of their own half as Chelsea are on the attack again. Chilwell has space to run into on the left and he whips another deep cross in. It's a poor one though that bounces straight out of play.

28' Werner finds himself in space on the left again and he drills a low cross into the box. It's behind Abraham and Taylor rushes back to clear it just as the flag goes up as Werner was offside.

24' Havertz does well to keep the ball under pressure from Taylor down the right before he squares a cross into the box for Werner. Tarkowski reads it well though and is able to intercept the pass.

22' Barnes isn't happy as he thinks that Zouma was tugging back his run into the box. Mendy rushes off his line to clear the ball after the clumsy challenge, but the referee waves for play to continue.

20' Werner times his run to stay onside and he has support up with him in the box. He tries to square it into the middle, but Long is there to clear it for Burnley and the chance is gone.

18' Burnley are struggling to keep hold of the ball when they get into Chelsea's half of the field. Wood takes it past Havertz on the halfway line but is closed down by two defenders which forces him out of play.

16' GREAT CHANCE! James plays a dangerous cross into the six-yard box and Chilwell is running onto it but it's just behind him. Chelsea keep hold of it though and Abraham fires a shot from the edge of the box which Pope tips over the bar.

15' Chelsea kept just their second away clean sheet in the Premier League under Lampard at Manchester United last time out. They haven't recorded consecutive shutouts on the road in the competition since a run of three in October 2018.

13' Chilwell's deep cross goes all the way out to James on the right and he chooses to go short to Werner. He has space to get a shot away but chooses to square it into the middle of the box, but there's no Chelsea player there.

11' It's a good cross into the box from Werner on the left and he picks out Havertz at the far post. He gets his head to it, but there's no power on his effort, and it's a comfortable save for Pope.

9' Chelsea are keeping the ball well at the moment, but all of their possession is in their own half. They're patiently playing out from the back but haven't been able to get into the final third yet.

7' Burnley are pushing forward again and Lowton is trying to pick out Bownhill's run with a throughball. Ziyech gets an important touch onto it to take it away from him and it runs back to Chilwell.

5' CHANCE! Lowton plays an early cross into Barnes and he's one-on-one with the keeper just inside the box. Mendy rushes off his line and Barnes chips his effort over him but onto the roof of the net.

4' Havertz spots Chilwell with a lot of space to run into down the left and switches play out to him. He almost brings it down on the stretch, but his touch actually takes the ball out of play.

2' Zouma sets Chelsea on an early attack as he plays a long ball forward for Abraham. He takes a heavy first touch which gives Long chance to get back, but the flag goes up anyway as the forward was offside.

1' Abraham gets the game underway for Chelsea!

The teams are out on the pitch now, with kick-off just moments away.

Burnley have lost each of their last three Premier League games at Turf Moor - they last lost four in a row at home in the competition in April 2010 under Brian Laws.

Frank Lampard makes five changes to the side that beat Krasnodar on Wednesday. James, Silva, Mount, Kante, Abraham all come into the starting line-up. Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Hudson-Odoi and Jorginho drop to the bench. Pulisic was supposed to start but was injured in the warm-up so Werner starts instead.

Sean Dyche makes just one change to his team after their loss to Tottenham and it's an enforced one. Johann Berg Gudmundsson misses out through injury so Stephens replaces him.

CHELSEA SUBS: Callum Hudson-Odoi, Olivier Giroud, Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Cear Azpilicueta, Jorginho, Karlo Ziger.

CHELSEA STARTING XI (4-3-3): Edouard Mendy; Reece James, Thiago Silva, Kurt Zouma, Ben Chilwell; Mason Mount, N'Golo Kante, Hakim Ziyech; Kai Havertz, Tammy Abraham, Timo Werner.

BURNLEY SUBS: Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Matej Vydra, Robbie Brady, Jimmy Dunne, Jay Rodriguez, Max Thompson, Lewis Richardson.

BURNLEY STARTING XI (4-4-2): Nick Pope; Matthew Lowton, Kevin Long, James Tarkowski, Charlie Taylor; Ashley Westwood, Dake Stephens, Josh Brownhill, Dwight McNeil; Ashley Barnes, Chris Wood.

Burnley are still looking for their first win in the Premier League this season (D1 L4) and are yet to pick up a point at home in the campaign. As for Chelsea, they're unbeaten in their last eight games in all competitions (W3 D5) and have kept a clean sheet in their last three outings.

Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Premier League meeting between Burnley and Chelsea at Turf Moor!

Germany rebound under Voller to beat France

Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker scored the winner against his former club as Sheffield United's winless start to the season continued.

Kyle Walker's goal against his hometown club secured a 1-0 Premier League victory for Manchester City over struggling Sheffield United.

Pep Guardiola, who had suffered his worst five-game start to a season after taking just eight points, saw his team's domestic frustrations alleviated by Sheffield-born Walker's 28th-minute strike at Bramall Lane.

City, buoyed by Tuesday's 3-0 Champions League win in Marseille, were on top from the outset and only a fine display from Aaron Ramsdale limited the damage.

The result leaves Chris Wilder's side still winless, while providing a confidence boost for a City outfit whose next top-flight clash is at home to champions Liverpool.

Ferran Torres' glancing header from Joao Cancelo's cross forced a fine early stop from Ramsdale, who also saw Aymeric Laporte steer a close-range effort just past his near post.

Rodri's ferocious 25-yard strike was too hot to handle as the goalkeeper parried it over the crossbar in slick conditions amid heavy rainfall in Sheffield.

The Blades continued to rely on their last line of defence when Ramsdale thwarted Torres after the Spaniard slid in to connect with Raheem Sterling's cross.

Walker, a product of the Bramall Lane academy, forced the breakthrough with a low, skidding shot that nestled in the keeper's bottom-right corner. It was the ideal way for Walker to mark his 100th Premier League appearance for City.

The hosts, who have never beaten City in the Premier League, remained firmly on the back foot in the second half, living dangerously as Kevin De Bruyne's attempt flashed narrowly wide.

Ramsdale was to the fore again soon after, tipping Riyad Mahrez's free-kick wide, while substitute John Lundstram fired over at the other end in a rare opening for the home side.

What does it mean? A timely triumph for City

With top-flight games against Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester United and Everton still to come in 2020, City needed this Halloween treat of three points.

The trick now will be to discover the kind of consistency usually so common to them and manager Guardiola, who will still have concerns about his side lacking a clinical edge.

Without Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus, the final scoreline failed to reflect City's dominance, with the visitors having out-shot (16-4) and out-passed (709-369) their hosts with ease.

Blunt Blades all toil and no trouble

Heading into this match, United's shot tally of 409 and on-target total of 131 were the lowest of all 17 ever-present Premier League sides since the start of last season.

On Saturday they managed to add just four shots, with one on target. A long season lies ahead for Wilder's charges, with United having last gone seven games without a win at the start of a campaign back in 1991-92.

Ramsdale's busy shift

It may have ended in defeat, but this was a performance of which Ramsdale can be proud.

Not since their opening 2-0 loss to Wolves have United been beaten by more than one goal, and in this instance that was firmly down to Ramsdale.

He made seven saves, in stark contrast to the solitary stop from Ederson at the other end.

Key Opta stats

- City have won more top-flight matches on October 31 than any other team in English top-flight history (11).
- United have picked up just one point from their first seven league games in a season for the first time since 1975-76.
- City have won four consecutive league games against Sheffield United for the first time since March 1930.
- Sheffield United have failed to win any of their last 11 games in all competitions (D2 L9) – the longest winless run of Chris Wilder’s managerial career.
- Six of Walker’s eight Premier League goals have been scored from outside the box, with today’s strike his first away goal in the competition.

What's next?

After the midweek visit of Olympiacos in the Champions League, City tackle Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday in an early test of both sides' title credentials. The Blades, firm bystanders in that particular race, travel to Chelsea the day before.

Jimenez brace wasted in Mexico, Uzbekistan draw

The return leg match will be played on November 3 as the clubs fight for the available slot in the Premier League

Kisumu All-Stars took a first-leg advantage to keep their Kenyan Premier League hopes alive after beating Vihiga United 2-1 at Mumias Sports Complex on Saturday.

The first leg encounter was held after it had initially been postponed owing to the coronavirus restrictions that are still in place. It took persistent Football Kenya Federation (FKF) requests to the government to have the playoffs held under strict guidelines.

Kisumu All-Stars will now head into the second leg – which will be played on November 3 – with an advantage over the Vihiga County side.

Willies Otenda powered the visitors into the lead in the fifth minute from the penalty spot and Vihiga United were unable to find an equaliser before the game went into the half-time break.

Dennis Wafula, who came on in the second half, equalised for Vihiga United in the 76th minute but Otenda returned with his second goal to restore the lead in the 80th minute.

Kisumu All-Stars, promoted at the end of the 2018/19 season from the National Super League (NSL), found their maiden campaign in the top-tier tough and now have to navigate the playoffs to remain in the top flight.

They only managed to register eight points, two wins, two draws and 12 losses before the league was cancelled in May.

On the other hand, Vihiga United finished with 35 points from 18 matches and were behind Nairobi City Stars and Bidco United, who automatically advanced to the top tier from the NSL.

The playoffs winner will join the 17 teams who will start battling for the Premier League title from November 20.

The league managers have already made public the 2020/21 schedules with the opening matches expected to start behind closed doors.

Vihiga United Starting XI: Joel Bataro, Dennis Ombeva, Michael Odongo, Sammy Sindani, Norman Werunga, Leiley Odongo, Patrick Okulo, Alex Imbusia, Hillary Otieno, Henry Juma, Tyrone Owino.

Subs: Michael Matasio, Wycliffe Nthata, Michael Isabwa, Absalom Onyango, Dennis Simiyu, Zablon Cheloti, Junior Adeyesa

Kisumu All-Stars Starting XI: Geoffrey Were, Bobby Kwaka, Arthur Ochung, Patrick Omondi, Jeconia Ogendo, Seth Oyugi, Willis Otenda, Martin Okumu, Erick Otieno, Michael Owino

Subs: John Awuoth, Shadrack Otieno, Walter Oduor, Steve Otieno, Gershom Osumba, John Owira, Mark Kwasira.

'We’ve all seen the give it to Ole rant!' - Ferdinand's assessment of Man Utd-linked Upamecano rejected by Liverpool legend Thompson

A former Anfield favourite still thinks the RB Leipzig star is "a very good defender" despite his nightmare showing against the Red Devils

Liverpool legend Phil Thompson has rejected Rio Ferdinand's assessment of Manchester United-linked centre-back Dayot Upamecano, while poking fun at his infamous "rant" backing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Upamecano attracted attention from a number of top clubs with his performances for RB Leipzig during the 2019-20 season.

The likes of United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona were all credited with an interest in the 23-year-old, who has left the door open to a future transfer.

The Frenchman played a key role in Leipzig's run to the Champions League semi-finals, and was rewarded with a contract extension in August, which ties him to Red Bull Arena until 2023.

However, the German club's current head coach, Julian Nagelsmann, has admitted that Upamecano could move onto pastures new next summer.

"Lots of clubs will want to buy - next season it could be real that he leaves the club. But this season he will stay," the Leipzig boss said last month.

Upamecano blew his latest audition on the European stage though, producing an uncharacteristically poor display against United at Old Trafford in a group stage clash on Wednesday.

Marcus Rashford scored three goals as the Red Devils ran out 5-0 winners, with the Leipzig star unable to get to grips with the England international after his introduction as a second-half substitute.

Ex-United centre-half Ferdinand didn't hold back in his criticism of Upamecano post-match, telling BT Sport: "[Rashford] He was head and shoulders above Leipzig.

"He made some defenders, who we were raving about before the game, look like schoolboys. I thought Upamecano had a nightmare today."

Thompson has hit back at Ferdinand's comments by suggesting he is often too quick to judge, while pointing to his ill-timed calls for United to make Solskjaer their new permanent manager following a last 16 Champions League win against Paris Saint-Germain in 2018-19.

The Liverpool great told Paddy Power of Upamecano's "off day" against the Red Devils: “I’ve seen he’s been linked with Liverpool as well as Man Utd now, and of course, after their result, you’d be wondering whether it’s the right call.

"Though on saying that, you could say the same thing about Virgil van Dijk if you had only ever seen him play in that game [7-2 loss] against Aston Villa

"You have your off days – everyone does. RB Leipzig have had a fantastic start to their season, they didn’t look like that in the second half at Old Trafford, United were all over them.

"Upamecano was all over the place, but so was the entire team. But don’t be fooled. He’s a very good defender and there’ll be a lot of people looking at him because he is making a lot of waves.

"There’s not a lot of quality centre-backs available in Europe at the moment, and I know Rio Ferdinand wasn’t happy with his performance… But I think I remember Rio having one or two bad games himself!

"One or two shockers, it happens to everybody. He’s had a couple of shockers as a pundit, too, we’ve all seen the ‘give it to Ole!’ rant a million times.”

LIVE: Koln vs Bayern Munich

50' Timo Horn makes a decent save from Gnabry's header!from a lofted cross! The keeper can't hold it though. It looks like the result will be a tap-in for Bayern but somehow Cologne keep it out.

49' Sane volleys across the face of goal but there's no one in Bayern black to take advantage of it. A third Bayern goal feels like a matter of time.

48' Bayern go hunting for a third goal. Gnabry gallops forward into the penalty area and finds Pavard out wide. Pavard's low cross is captured by Muller whose ball across towards Choupo-Moting is cut out.

46' The game's restarted again for the second half. No changes at half-time.

Don't hold out much hope for a Cologne comeback. Bayern have scored three or more goals in eight of their last 12 games against Cologne and look on track for another such victory here. Cologne are 45 minutes away from going winless in their last nine home league games, their worst run here since 2005/06. They've struggled since coming back up to the Bundesliga last season.

Bayern go in at half-time two goals to the good thanks to Muller's penalty and Gnabry's goal on the stroke of half-time. The champions have been effective rather than exceptional but already look on track for the win unless Cologne can show us something else in the second half.

45' + 1' HALF-TIME: COLOGNE 0-2 BAYERN MUNICH

45' + 1' Just the one minute of added time in this half, but in that minute...

45' Wolf gets tired of this Bayern dominance and booms a high cross to the opposite side from deep. Jannes Horn tussles with Gnabry to win the ball and ends up giving away a cheap foul.

43' Timo Horn is on hand to claim the corner. Bayern are undoubtedly in control but it's not particularly exciting.

41' Bayern have a free-kick near their left touchline. Kimmich's delivery is headed away and Pavard's follow-up cross is punted out for a corner to Bayern.

39' Martinez wins the ball for Bayern and sends it wide for Sane's cross to come in. From it, Muller air-kicks his attempt but Cologne can't clear. Kimmich has a go from outside the box straight into a crowd of bodies. There's a spot of pinball in the box and it ends with a Cologne goal-kick.

37' Bayern are moving the ball around, trying to find a way through Cologne's low block. Boateng sends a direct pass from deep forward. Czichos is on hand to head it away.

35' Cologne see off the free-kick without too much difficulty. The flag goes up against Sane shortly after he accidentally handles the ball in the box.

33' Sane does well to win a loose ball down the left for Bayern and is tripped by Wolf as he moves inside. Bayern will have the chance to swing a free-kick into Cologne's penalty area.

31' Bayern are dominating the match - they've had 62 per cent possession so far - but it's all rather sterile. Cologne are preventing the champions from creating clear shooting opportunities.

29' Choupo-Moting turns Bornauw nicely and finds Muller making a run down the left. The winger cuts inside onto his right foot and curls a cross into the danger area that Choupo-Moting heads towards goal. Timo Horn manages to push it away!

27' Cologne counter down their left and Jannes Horn's fizzed ball in on the overlap is blocked. The hosts aren't going to get many clear chances here so they have to make them count when they come.

26' Bayern are soon on the attack again though. Cologne are having to choose their opportunities wisely. Kimmich finds Sane wide right with a lovely crossfield pass but the winger can't prevent it from going out for a Cologne throw-in.

25' Sule ventures forward from the back and plays a one-two with Sane to reach the edge of the box. Bayern's centre-back eventually shoots but it's a tame effort straight into the arms of Timo Horn.

21' Pavard commits a clumsy challenge on Jakobs as Cologne try to switch the play. This will be a card of some kind.

19' Bayern are on top possession-wise at the moment but Cologne aren't afraid to get forward quickly on the break. It bodes well for Cologne's chances of getting back into this game.

17' Cologne's Swedish striker Andersson gets shoved in the back by Sule and wins a foul. Cologne take it quickly and Jakobs dashes down the left into the box, dragging his shot just wide of the right-hand post. That was a decent opportunity for the hosts.

15' Cologne may already be behind but at least they're still looking forward. Ozcan wriggles loose to the left of Bayern's box and crosses towards the centre only for Pavard to get the block in.

12' PENALTY TO BAYERN! Wolf foolishly sticks his arm out as Gnabry nods the ball towards him in the box. It's a silly penalty to give away after a positive start by Cologne.

9' Choupo-Moting is overeager in closing Ozcan down and gives away the foul. It looks like Bayern's forward for the day will be getting more than just a talking to here.

7' Cologne are looking bright early on in this game. Jakobs takes a shot with his left foot from outside the box and it's blocked by Pavard. Cologne get a corner out of it which Bayern manage to clear.

5' Ozcan wins a free-kick down the left wing for Cologne as he's clipped by Pavard. Duda takes the free-kick short and Cologne can't create a clear opportunity from it.

3' Bayern get a feel for the ball early on - the visitors are playing in their black and red away kit. It's a professional kit for what they'll hope will be a professional job away from home.

1' We're underway here!

The two sides are out on the pitch in Cologne. Cologne have been in woeful form in 2020 - they haven't won in their last 15 Bundesliga games - but they do generally manage to score at home. Hopefully this will be a decent game.

This is the 99th meeting between Cologne and Bayern in professional football. As you'd expect, Bayern dominate the head-to-head record with 51 wins to Cologne’s 24. The hosts haven't beaten Bayern since February 2011, losing 11 of these sides' 12 meetings since then. Bayern have scored 22 goals in their first five games this season, a league record. Don't be surprised if they rack up more goals here.

Cologne make two changes from their 1-1 draw away to Stuttgart last week as Ozcan and Limnios come in. There are seven changes to the Bayern side that defeated Lokomotiv Moscow in the Champions League midweek. Robert Lewandowski and Leon Goretzka miss out but it's still a very strong 11. Martinez makes his 150th league appearance and Pavard his 100th.

SUBS: Marc Roca, Jamal Musiala, Joshua Zirkzee, Lucas Hernandez, David Alaba, Alexander Nubel, Kingsley Coman, Douglas Costa.

BAYERN MUNICH (4-2-3-1): Manuel Neuer (c); Bouna Sarr, Niklas Sule, Jerome Boateng, Benjamin Pavard; Joshua Kimmich, Javi Martinez; Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane; Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

SUBS: Dominick Drexler, Noah Katterbach, Frederik Sorensen,  Kingsley Ehizibue, Elvis Rexhbecaj, Toluwalase Emmanuel Arokodare, Jorge Mere, Ron-Robert Zieler, Jan Thielmann.

COLOGNE (4-2-3-1): Timo Horn (c); Marius Wolf, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Rafael Czichos, Jannes Horn; Ellyes Skhiri, Salih Ozcan; Dimitris Limnios, Ondrej Duda, Ismail Jakobs; Sebastian Andersson.

Bayern have made a strong start to their campaign as they look to win the Bundesliga for a ninth year in a row. The European champions are just a point behind RB Leipzig at the top at the moment. A win for the boys from Bavaria here would put pressure on Leipzig as they play Borussia Monchengladbach later.

Five games into their Bundesliga season, third-from-bottom Cologne remain winless and already look to be facing another relegation dogfight. There's still plenty of time for Markus Gisdol's team to get out of it, of course, but a visit from champions Bayern is not helpful at the best of times, especially now.

Hello! Welcome to our live text commentary of this Bundesliga match between Cologne and Bayern Munich at the RheinEnergieSTADION, Cologne.

Southgate: Criticism of England's Maguire 'a joke'

The former Bianconeri midfielder has questioned the club's decision to invest so heavily in a player who only just escaped relegation in 2019-20

Juventus overpaid to sign Federico Chiesa from Fiorentina in the summer transfer window, according to Claudio Marchisio.

Juve paid Fiorentina an initial loan fee of €10 million (£9m/$12m) for Chiesa on October 5, with an option to buy for €40 million (£36m/$47m) included in the final agreement between the two clubs.

The 23-year-old rose through the youth ranks at Artemio Franchi Stadium before stepping up to the senior squad in 2016, and went on to score 34 goals in 153 games for La Viola.

Ten of those efforts came as he helped Fiorentina avoid relegation last season, and Juve were impressed enough to hand him a temporary two-year contract at the Allianz Stadium.

Chiesa's move to Turin will automatically be made permanent if he plays a minimum of 60 per cent of the club's fixtures during that period for at least 30 minutes, while he will also have to contribute a minimum of 10 goals and 10 assists.

The Italy international has made a bright start to life with the Bianconeri, with Andrea Pirlo handing him six starts in the early stages of the new season, but Marchisio thinks his old club were wrong to invest so heavily in the winger.

"It's not right that someone who was fighting relegation should cost €50-60m," the former Juve midfielder told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"He is a real talent, but there is too much pressure on him created by the transfer market.

"He needs to find the right position on the field, but in my view, he will explode and become a star."

Chiesa played the full 90 minutes of Juve's 2-0 home defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Pirlo stressed post-match that his rebuilding project will take time, but also admitted his side must continue to deliver consistent results while trying to adapt to a new style of play.

"Maybe we will need a bit more time, but we have to know that results must come through a certain type of playing style that maybe we are struggling to assimilate," he told reporters.

Juve are due back in Serie A action away at Spezia on Sunday, where they must win to close the gap on league leaders AC Milan before their focus shifts to another Champions League group stage outing against Ferencvaros.

The Liverpool lineup that should start against Southampton in 2021 opener

The Black Stars boss has spoken about his decision to summon the duo back for international duty

Ghana coach CK Akonnor believes the time is right for China-based midfielder Mubarak Wakaso to re-join the national team, leading to his inclusion in a 23-man squad for November's 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Sudan.

The Jiangsu Suning ace has been handed a recall after being snubbed for international friendly matches against Mali and Qatar in the Turkish city of Antalya earlier this month.

Ghana are set to host Sudan on matchweek three of the Afcon qualifiers in Cape Coast on November 12, five days before travelling for a return fixture away.

"For him [Wakaso], I spoke to him when we were going to Antalya," Akonnor said, as reported by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) official website after unveiling his latest squad.

"His time is up to join us and received that message in a very good manner and he’s here again to support the team with his rich experience."

Crystal Palace midfielder Jeffrey Schlupp has also been given a second straight opportunity to make a return to national duty, having missed a chance to make a comeback during the Mali and Qatar friendlies due to injury.

He last featured for the Black Stars in March 2019.

"He [Schlupp] had the chance to come, he has also been away for some time," Akonnor said of the Germany-born.

"But unfortunately, when we were about to go to Turkey, he got injured and I think I still want to keep that team and now that he’s fit and doing well, he has a chance of coming to help us."

Ghana have also handed recalls to Columbus Crew right-back Harrison Afful, who last represented the Black Stars in 2018, and the duo of Chelsea left-back Abdul Rahman Baba and FC Metz captain John Boye, who have been out of the national set-up since the 2019 Afcon in Egypt.

Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew and Guimaraes left-back Gideon Mensah have also been called up for the upcoming games after recovering from the coronavirus contracted on their last time out with the Black Stars.

Trabzonspor forward Caleb Ekuban and Celta Vigo centre-back Joseph Aidoo, who both also tested positive for coronavirus on their return from Ghana's October friendlies, have been selected as well.

Germany U20 attacker Jamie Leweling has also been drafted into the Ghana set-up, two months after scoring for the Europeans in a fixture against Denmark

The 18-year-old wide player has been linked with top clubs around Europe, however the Premier League outfit have won the race

Teenage winger Filip Stevanovic will move to Manchester City from Partizan Belgrade in the January transfer window for a fee of £6 million (€6.5m/$8m).

The 18-year-old wide player has been linked with clubs across Europe since emerging for the Serbian side, but the Premier League outfit have won the race and will complete the deal for Stevanovic when the next transfer window opens in 2021.

Whether Stevanovic remains with City for the second half of this season remains to be seen, with a return to Partizan on loan or a temporary move elsewhere both likely options.

Manchester UnitedReal MadridLiverpoolBayern MunichChelseaJuventusAC MilanBorussia Dortmund and Inter were the standouts from some 15 clubs who were keen on a deal.

City, however, have signed Stevanovic for a reduced fee, given the interest in his services, as a result of the economic pressure of the coronavirus pandemic.

"We have had an offer on the table for Filip Stevanovic for six months now, which is over €10 million (£9m/$11m)," Partizan coach Savo Milosevic told TV Happy in April.

"Now the deal will be much more complicated, but if the team can pick up from where we left off [before the Covid-19 shutdown] and he plays the way he did in the autumn, then I am sure that the price will return quickly."

Stevanovic contributed nine goals and three assists in 35 matches in all competitions for Partizan in 2019-20, and has scored three and provided two more in 11 games so far in 2020-21.

He joined Partizan at the age of nine after taking his first footballing steps with hometown club Vranic Arilje, and Stevanovic has spent the last decade making his way through the club's age-group sides.

Due to his ability and willingness to play both as a winger and as a central forward, he has been likened to Cristiano Ronaldo in his native Serbia. Stevanovic, though, has another player that he regards as his footballing idol.

"He [Ronaldo] is not among my favourites, but he is my role model when it comes to work and goals," he told Mondo. "I don't like to praise myself, because I think others should do it, but I like dribbling the most. Dribbling is perhaps my best characteristic as a footballer. Cristiano is great, but he is not a dribbler.

"Ronaldinho, though, was magical and special. Of course, I wouldn't mind being like [Lionel] Messi or Neymar, but Ronaldinho had some magic. He had incredible control of the ball, and could do things that no one else could - that no one even thought of."

The 22-year-old was ordered by the Federation to pay the Red Eagles Ush25 million for breach of contract

Defender Disan Galiwango is free to play for Vipers SC after Express FC agreed to let him leave.

There have been tussles between the Venoms and the Red Eagles regarding the player.

On July 1, the Ugandan Premier League (UPL) champions announced they had beaten rivals Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA FC) to the services of the left-back, who had penned a four-year contract to sign for the St Marys Kitende-based giants.

However, the move was not welcomed as the Wankulukuku-based side revealed the defender had renewed his contract after negotiations and accepted a fee of USh15 million although his initial value was quoted as was USh30 million.

The Red Eagles further stated Galiwango affirmed his wish to stay after signing the papers with the club chairman Kiryowa Kiwanuka. Since then, reports emerged that Vipers signed Galiwango, gave him USh60 million as a sign-on fee inclusive of USh15 million that he was to pay Express.

It is for this reason Express took their complaint to the Federation of Uganda Football Association (Fufa) Dispute Resolution Chamber.

"Disan Galiwango released after fulfilling the Fufa dispute resolution chamber ruling," the club confirmed via their official social media forums.

The club's CEO Isaac Mwesigwa confirmed the development and was pleased with the outcome.

"We are happy this has come to an end," the administrator said. "In all this, football wins and the club wishes Disan a great career ahead."

On September 2, the body ordered the defender to pay Express FC USh25 million for breach of contract.

"The player, Dissan Galiwango is ordered to refund the USh15,000,000 [Fifteen million shilling only] he received from Express FC in November 2019," the resolution chamber decreed.

"Disan Galiwango is ordered to pay compensation for breach of his obligations vis-à-vis the club, Express FC under the preliminary contract/pre-contract in the amount of USh10,000,000 [Ten million shillings only].

"Disan Galiwango shall not be issued a player’s license until the total amount of USh25,000,000 [Twenty-five million shillings only] is fully paid to Express FC."

After the latest development, the Venoms can now plan with the defender in their team for the new season.

The defending champions will be aiming at defending their title and perform well in the Caf Champions League as well.
