Arteta 'in shock' and calls on Arsenal to show 'big balls' after Liverpool loss

The Gunners were crushed 3-0 by the Reds at the Emirates, and their manager was not happy

Mikel Arteta has said Arsenal’s dismal loss to Liverpool left him "in shock," and has called on his players to show "big balls" and fashion a response.

Arsenal’s outside hopes of making a late push for the European places suffered a huge setback with a 3-0 loss to Liverpool at the Emirates on Saturday.

The score flattered Arsenal, as they were second best in every facet of the game.

What was said?

Arteta pulled no punches with his assessment of the performance.

“We completely deserved to lose the game,” Arteta told Sky Sports. “They were better in every department and deserved to win the game with the margin they had, or even more. I accept responsibility for the way we played today.

“I don't have to use any excuses - that we don't have five or six players - the standards are much higher at this football club and I have to get them to perform at that level. It was technical as well. We gave every ball away and could not put three passes together. The basics weren't there today.

"At the moment I am in shock. I didn't expect that because of the way the team trained.”

Arteta seeking a response

The Gunners’ hopes of earning a place in the Champions League through their Premier League position are effectively over.

They still have a route into Europe’s premier club competition via victory in the Europa League.

Arsenal take on Slavia Prague in the quarter-finals on Thursday, and Arteta is demanding a response from his players.

“It is a challenge and brings an opportunity,” he said. “If you have courage and big balls and you represent a club like this, you have to stand up in the next game and take it.”

Gunners boss apologises to fans

Arsenal fans are not known for their vociferous nature, but it was probably fortunate there were no supporters at the Emirates on Saturday as the atmosphere could have turned ugly.

Arteta was unhappy in his pitch-side interviews, and took the opportunity in his press conference to apologise to Gunners fans.

"We want to apologise, to our people and our fans,” he said. “This is nowhere near what we want and we have to do better."

Barcelona beat out Guayaquil arch-rivals Emelec in the Second stage of the 2020 season to book their place in the final against LDU Quito, who ran out winners in the first half of the year.

Both legs of the finals ended in stalemate, and Barcelona eventually triumphed 3-1 on penalties to lift their first Serie A crown since 2016.

They seem to have picked up where they left off this term too, sitting top with four wins and a draw from their opening five matches.

'Bayern will be champions' - Nagelsmann concedes title after RB Leipzig fall in top-of-the-table clash

The Bavarian giants are poised to win a ninth consecutive domestic championship after a huge win on Saturday

Julian Nagelsmann has conceded the Bundesliga title to Bayern Munich after the defending champions beat his RB Leipzig side 1-0 on Saturday.

Leipzig went into the match in second, with the chance to close the gap to league-leading Bayern to one point with a win.

Instead, Leon Goretzka's first-half goal made the difference as Bayern went seven points clear at the top with seven league games left.

What was said?

"It’s not a goal we should be conceding, but we still played very well," Nagelsmann told Sky Germany after the game.

"We pushed Bayern deep into their own half at various stages, but not for the first time this season we didn’t score. We have to learn from that.

"It’d help if we had a proper goal-getter, but we don’t. We were the better side, but have to make more of our chances. Now we have to let it sink in and get on with it.

"If the season goes as expected, Bayern will be champions. We want to finish second."

Leipzig captain Marcel Sabitzer agreed with his manager, saying: "We only have ourselves to blame for that. First we have to digest what happened. We want to finish second, and reach the German Cup final."

Bayern's dominance continues

Unless anything unexpected happens down the stretch, the Bavarians will win their ninth consecutive Bundesliga title this season.

The last team other than Bayern to win the German top flight was Jurgen Klopp's Borussia Dortmund back in 2011-12.

Bayern secured a treble last season as they won the league, German Cup and the Champions League, then also went on to win the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

This season Bayern were bounced from the German Cup, but can still secure another Champions League as they get set to face PSG in the quarter-finals.

'We don’t have to start dreaming' - Klopp keeping focus after Liverpool win over Arsenal

The Reds boss was thrilled with the performance his side delivered in the win over the Gunners

Jurgen Klopp has said Liverpool will focus on their own games, as they cannot influence what Chelsea and Leicester do in the race for the top four.

Saturday marked the day Liverpool could no longer win the title, as mathematically Manchester City cannot be caught by the Reds, but they brushed off the setback of failing to defend their championship by crushing Arsenal 3-0.

It was an excellent performance, and moved the Reds to within two points of Chelsea following their surprise loss to West Brom.

What was said?

Klopp was delighted with the overall package his side produced in humbling the Gunners in north London.

“It was very good,” Klopp told Sky Sports. “Our counter-pressing was of the highest level. In general the defending of the whole team looked exactly like it should look.

“Overall, I am extremely happy with the performance. It is all about the three points and the result.”

Top-drawer Trent

Trent Alexander-Arnold bounced back from the disappointment of Gareth Southgate's decision to drop him from the England squad to deliver an excellent performance.

He was a threat going forward all evening, and delivered a sensational cross for Diogo Jota to net the opening goal.

Klopp was thrilled for his right-back, as he said: “Trent Alexander-Arnold showed his class.

“I don’t want to make a funny discussion about Trent. It is Gareth’s decision. He is blessed with the choice he has in that decision.

“Trent is in good shape, and if somebody says he is not, then I have to say that is wrong.”

Liverpool in the hunt for fourth

With eight games remaining in the season, the Reds do not have their destiny in their own hands.

But they are now within two points of Chelsea, and could take momentum from the win over the Gunners.

"We don’t look at Chelsea, or West Ham, or Leicester because we have to win our games. Also in our situation other teams have to lose games as well as we don’t play Chelsea any more, we don’t play Leicester any more.

“We have enough games. We have a tough programme. We don’t have to start dreaming, we have to keep working. It was a nice start and tonight the package was extremely good.”

Arsenal vs River Plate: How to watch Liga Argentina matches

Marcelo Gallardo's men head to Sarandi after being frustrated in a dull goalless draw at home to Racing last time out

Argentine football begins its program for 2021 with the playing of the Copa Liga Profesional.

All games are live streamed on Fanatiz and you can sign up to watch free here.

Boca was crowned 2019-20 league champions in March after coming out on top during the 23-game season, and also triumphed in the following Copa Diego Armando Maradona, which ended in January.

In lieu of beginning a new league season, the Argentine footballing authorities have instead sanctioned another cup competition, which will run from February to May.

The 26 Primera Division clubs have been split into two groups, with each side playing each other once.

In addition there will be one inter-zonal game every week, where Boca and River, Racing Club and Independiente and the rest of Argentina's Clasico rivals will face off in a series of clashes.

The top four teams from each group then advance to a play-off stage, which will take place in a straight knock-out format in order to yield a single winner.

Fanatiz has the rights to the Copa de la Liga Profesional worldwide, excluding Argentina, Germany, Austria, Portugal, Israel, Russia, Sweden and the Balkans.

How to watch River Plate vs Racing Club

Arsenal's encouraging Copa Diego Maradona form has so far failed to carry over into this 2021 edition.

The Sarandi side have suffered a wretched start to the campaign and sit rock-bottom of their group, with just one point from their first seven games.

River began the Copa on a low note, going down 2-1 to Estudiantes in their opening game.

Since then the Millonario have endured mixed fortunes, dispatching Rosario Central and neighbours Platense before falling at home to Argentinos and drawing the Superclasico 1-1 away to arch-rivals Boca Juniors.

Marcelo Gallardo's men then enjoyed a welcome return to form as they thrashed Godoy Cruz 6-1, but they found no way through 10-man Racing Club last weekend in a dull 0-0 draw.

Kenya star Olunga scores as Al Duhail fight back to defeat Al Arabi

The Harambee Stars striker took his tally to four goals in the Qatari top-flight as the Red Knights stretched their unbeaten run to six league matches

Kenya striker Michael Olunga inspired Al Duhail’s comeback with a goal in their 3-2 win over Al Arabi in Saturday's Qatar Stars League fixture.

After falling to Abdulaziz Al Ansari's opener in the 29th minute, Mohammed Musa got Al Duhail level six minutes later.

Al-Ansari restored Al Arabi's lead again in the 40th minute but Olunga ensured both teams go into the break on level terms with his strike from the penalty spot.

The strike was Olunga's fourth goal in his debut season in the Qatari top-flight after seven matches. The Kenya international only joined Sabri Lamouchi's side from Japanese club Kashiwa Reysol in January.

After the restart, Edmilson Junior scored the match-winning goal in the 54th minute for Al Duhail but he was later sent off in stoppage-time after receiving his second yellow card in the encounter.

Olunga did not finish the match because he was replaced in the 81st minute, but former Morocco captain Medhi Benatia played the entire duration for the visitors.

Al Arabi, on the other hand, had Algeria's Ayoub Azzi and Tunisia attacker Youssef Msakni on parade.

Following the triumph, Al Duhail remain second in the Stars League table with 43 points after 20 matches with an 11-point gap behind runaway leaders Al Sadd.

The Red Knights are yet to lose a league match since their 3-1 league defeat against Al Sadd on January 12.

With two games remaining in the Qatari top-flight, Olunga will be looking to help Al Duhail end their league campaign on a high with games against Al Khor and Al Ahli scheduled for Tuesday and Friday respectively.

Arsenal injury worry as Tierney limps off against Liverpool

Kieran Tierney has handed Arsenal an injury concern after limping off against Liverpool.

Shortly before half-time, the Scotland international went in for a challenge with James Milner. Milner was quicker to the ball, and in catching the Liverpool man, Tierney came off worst.

After being treated on the pitch, Tierney had to be removed from the match.

Chance for Cedric

Tierney received a lengthy period of treatment, with his left leg the cause of concern, but he was deemed unfit to carry on.

The 23-year-old walked unaided down the tunnel before being replaced by Cedric.

Cedric joined Arsenal permanently from Southampton last summer, but has been playing second fiddle to Tierney at left-back.

A worry for Arsenal

Tierney has been an inspirational figure for Arsenal this term, and has arguably usurped his Liverpool counterpart Andy Robertson as Scotland’s best left-back.

The Gunners face Slavia Prague in the quarter-finals of the Europa League on Thursday, and manager Mikel Arteta will have his fingers crossed that the problem is not a serious one.

Though Tierney walked off under his own power he did have a look of concern on his face, indicating he and the Gunners could face a nervous wait on his status.

Mame Diouf's double powers Hatayspor past Onyekuru's Galatasaray

The Senegal striker played a starring role with two goals that condemned the Lions to defeat in Hatay

Mame Diouf was the hero as his two goals helped Hatayspor defeat Henry Onyekuru and Oghenekaro Etebo's Galatasaray 3-0 in a Turkish Super Lig encounter on Saturday.

The former Manchester United and Stoke City forward stepped up his performance for Murat Sonmez's side in the absence of Aaron Boupendza who tested for coronavirus after his international duty with Gabon.

Boupendza is the leading scorer in the Turkish top-flight in this campaign with 18 goals but Diouf has closed the gap after he took his tally to 13 league goals at the Antakya Ataturk Stadium.

Nigeria's David Akintola played a key role in helping Diouf break the deadlock in Hatay with his assist in the 21st minute. Then Mali's Adama Traore provided the assist for Ruben Ribeiro to make it 2-0 eight minutes later.

Later in the second half, Diouf grabbed his second goal of the evening in the 72nd minute as Galatasaray conceded their second straight defeat in the Super Lig.

Super Eagles midfielder Etebo played the entire duration for the visitors while Onyekuru saw 81 minutes of action and former Enyimba defender Valentine Ozornwafor was an unused substitute.

Egypt's Mostafa Mohamed and Algeria's Sofiane Feghouli were also in action for Fatih Terim's side but they were replaced at half-time.

Hatayspor also had a host of African stars on parade including Ghana's Isaac Sackey and Morocco goalkeeper Munir Mohand Mohamedi.

Saturday's loss dealt a blow to Galatasaray's Super Lig title dreams as they now trail leaders Besiktas by three points with the Black Eagles having two games in hand.

The Lions are second with 61 points from 31 matches while Hatayspor are sixth on the table with 49 points after 30 games.

Onyekuru, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Monaco for his third stint in Turkey, has scored five goals in 11 matches since his arrival in January and he will aim to inspire Terim's side back to winning ways when they host Fatih Karagumruk for their next league match on April 10.

PSL Wrap: Golden Arrows cut Mamelodi Sundowns' lead, Maritzburg United humiliate Chippa United

Three matches were played on Saturday with the Team of Choice being the only side which recorded a victory on the day

Lamontville Golden Arrows extended their unbeaten run to five matches in the PSL when they drew 1-1 with Swallows FC at Dobsonville Stadium.

Both goals were scored after the restart following a quiet first-half in the encounter which took place in Soweto.

Brandon Parusnath, who is enjoying his breakthrough season in the top-flight league, thought he had snatched Arrows' late winning goal when scored in the 71st minute.

It was the attacking midfielder's second goal of the campaign which has seen him become a key player for coach Mandla Ncikazi's unlikely PSL title contenders.

However, Vuyo Mere had other ideas as the veteran full-back scored from close range in stoppage time to ensure that the game ended in a 1-1 draw on the day.

However, Swallows extended their winless run to nine matches in the league and they remain sixth on the league standings.

While Arrows also remained second on the standings and they are now three points behind leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, who have three matches in hand.

Meanwhile, Maritzburg United humiliated Chippa United when they secured an impressive 5-1 victory at Harry Gwala Stadium.

It was the Chilli Boys, who broke the deadlock when Maloisane Mokhele scored to hand Chippa a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute with Ayabulela Konqobe providing the assist.

The Team of Choice then made a strong comeback as they scored two quick goals through Thabiso Kutumela, who netted in the 35th minute and 39th minute to make it 2-1 to Maritzburg.

A second-half which was dominated by the hosts followed with Bongokuhle Hlongwane netting in the 50th minute to make it 3-1 to Maritzburg and it was his second goal in as many matches.

Tebogo Tlolane, who had provided the assist for Hlongwane's goal, then put his name on the score sheet to make it 4-1 to Maritzburg with nine minutes left on the clock.

Maritzburg's 5-1 victory was then sealed by Ali Jose Meza when he hit the back of the net in the 87th minute with the Venezuelan attacker having set up Tlolane for the hosts' fourth goal.

The win took Maritzburg to 12th place on the standings as they boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation, while a struggling Chippa side slipped down to 14th spot on the log.

Lastly, Cape Town City were held to a 0-0 draw by Baroka FC at Cape Town Stadium and the result left the two teams placed seventh and 10th respectively on the standings.

Ayinde and Okobi-Okeoghene lead Eskilstuna United to first-ever Swedish Women's Cup final

The Nigerians were at their best as their side silenced Umea to reach their maiden Cup final at Umea Energi Arena

Ayinde Halimatu and Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene were in action as Eskilstuna United beat Umea 4-2 to reach the Swedish Women's Cup final for the first time in their history.

Before the semi-final match, Nigeria international Ayinde had featured prominently in 3-0 and 1-0 wins over Sundsvall and Hammarby, as well as the final group stage 1-1 draw with Orebro.

For Okobi-Okeoghene, she had fully recovered from her injury and was eager to continue from where she left off last season scoring four times, with an impactful return for Eskilstuna, at Umea.

At Umea Energi Arena, Ayinde earned a starting spot in coach Magnus Karlsson's team, while compatriot Okobi-Okeoghene was introduced in the second half of the encounter.

In a bid for a first-ever final, Loreta Kullashi got the visitors off to a flying start when she opened the scoring after the 26th minute.

However, Umea bounced back into the contest as Rosa Herreros Ossorio canceled out Kullashi's opener 10 minutes later to force a stalemate at half-time.

After the restart, Eskilstuna recovered their dominance in the encounter when Kaisa Collin struck seven minutes into the second half to restore the lead for the visitors.

Six minutes later, Karlsson's team was gifted a penalty and Felicia Rogic converted from the spot to extend the visitors' lead.

Despite Alexandra Sandstrom pulling one back in Umea's late fightback, Fanny Andersson netted on the brink of the final whistle to guarantee the progression of Eskilstuna to their maiden final.

Ayinde was in action for 52 minutes in the semi-final for coach Karlsson's side, while compatriot Okobi-Okeoghene lasted the final 20 minutes of the encounter on her return from the sidelines.

Having edged the four-time winners, Eskilstuna will await their opponents in the final from the winner of Sunday's second semi-final between holders Hackens and Rosengard.

Before the final, the Nigerian duo will now shift focus on international duties with Nigeria as they are expected to be called up by Randy Waldrum for a four-nation tournament in Lagos this week.

Madrid boss Zidane upbeat on Hazard return for Champions League clash with Liverpool

The Belgian winger has been struggling with a hip injury but could feature in the quarter-final first leg

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is hopeful of having Eden Hazard fit for the Champions League clash with Liverpool on Tuesday.

Hazard has had an injury-plagued time at Real, and was absent as the team returned following the international break with a 2-0 win over Eibar.

Zidane’s focus now shifts to European competition, and he is hopeful the Belgium international could play a part against the Reds.

What has been said?

"Hopefully we can get [Federico] Valverde and Hazard back," Zidane said. "We will see tomorrow and the day after.

"Today it was not possible but I hope that on Tuesday they can be with us."

Zidane in upbeat mood

The result moved Real to within three points of leaders Atletico Madrid, who have a game in hand, and Zidane feels his side are in a good moment.

‘We did very well, starting the game very well,” Zidane said. “Now we have to rest and prepare well. We know where we come from, we’ve suffered a lot this season and now it’s time to enjoy.

“We’re in a good moment, because the results are good. We defended the goal very well and we’re playing well, for us it’s important.”

The resurgence of Asensio

While Karim Benzema was grabbing headlines by scoring for the seventh game in a row, Marco Asensio also caught the eye by netting for the third match on the spin.

The Spain star is finding form after shaking off the knee injury that ruined his 2019-20 season, and Zidane is happy with the forward’s return to prominence.

“I’m happy for Marco, it’s important for a player to score goals,” Zidane said. “It’s important because it gives him confidence and energy. For him it’s important to score and I see he’s well.”

LIVE: Athletic Club vs Real Sociedad

Athletic have found it very difficult to keep possession in midfield, with the wings doing most of the attacking work. That has isolated Williams, who has struggled to get involved in play. Perhaps the addition of another striker to play alongside him will be of benefit; as Villalibre is available from the bench. Sociedad have done well to get the ball in attacking areas but are missing the cutting edge necessary to take the lead. Fortunately for Alguacil - he has a number of options to change things up including Bautista, Fernandez and former Manchester United winger Januzaj.

Both sides enter the half-time interval level at 0-0 after a tightly contested affair. The two Basque clubs looked nervous in the early going, with the occasion and the rain combining for a loose and sloppy opening quarter-hour. Sociedad seem to have shaded the contest so far, with more possession and more total shots, though the best chance seems to have fallen to Athletic, via Martinez’s accurate shot from distance. The tempo and the aggression seemed to have picked up as the first half rolled on - making for what should be a fascinating second period.

45' + 1' HALF-TIME: ATHLETIC BILBAO 0-0 REAL SOCIEDAD.

45' The fourth official indicates there will be one minute added for stoppages at the end of the first half.

43' Remiro comes flying off of his line to catch the ball on the edge of the six-yard box, before Williams’ cross was allowed to find Raul Garcia at the far post.

41' Sociedad are once again in control of possession with just five minutes left in the first half. It doesn’t look like either side will be able to break the deadlock before the interval, though the two sides seem more intent on not conceding, than on scoring.

39' Athletic Bilbao are put in a curious position today, competing in a Copa del Rey final (last years’ postponed showpiece) against Real Sociedad just nine days ahead of their 2020/21 cup final, when they will play Barcelona.

37' With over 30 minutes gone in the final, neither side have convinced enough to deserve the lead. It’s been a tight affair, though Real Sociedad seem to just be edging it on the balance of play; seeing more possession and taking more shots.

33' WHAT A SAVE FROM REMIRO! Simon boots the ball away from his goal, finding Martinez with pinpoint accuracy. The centre-back makes the most of his forward position, cutting inside and firing a laser which would have crept in just under the crossbar had the Sociedad goalkeeper not been alert to the danger.

31' Muniain takes a corner towards the edge of the six-yard box, but Oyarzabal is back to do his defensive work, getting a head to the ball to clear it away.

29' Muniain bursts into the penalty area with trademark speed, before turning Gorosabel around with a beautiful cut inside. The Athletic captain gets a bit too fancy, trying to cut back and have a strike, but he allows the Sociedad full-back to regain his footing and make a great clearing tackle.

27' Sociedad try to make something happen down the right through Gorosabel, but his early cross to Isak is watched well by Martinez.

25' Monreal slowly makes his way forward to get involved in the attack but loses possession to the backtracking Berenguer. The counter-attack was on, but a smart and cynical foul from the former Arsenal full-back stops play, allowing him to get back into a defensive position.

23' CLOSE! Sociedad pile on the pressure after Isak is played through on goal, but he’s unable to turn a shot towards Simon, drawing the keeper off his line and passing back to David Silva. The Athletic defence does well to close down the space and force a subsequent pass to the right flank, from where a cross is delivered into the arms of the goalkeeper.

21' The 2019/20 Copa del Rey final between Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad is the first all-Basque cup final since 1927, when Real Union beat Arenas 1-0 after extra time.

19' Oyarzabal takes a corner-kick to the far post for Gorosabel, but Portu gets himself involved, jumping over the back of Martinez and sending the centre-back to the ground. It’s a free-kick for Athletic from inside their own 18-yard box.

17' Berenguer gets into a good position on the right and flashes a dangerous, low cross into the middle of the penalty area for Williams. All it needed was a touch to take it past Remiro, but a crucial touch from Zubeldia puts it the other way.

15' Incredible vision from Oyarzabal who plays a fantastic pass from inside his own half between Athletic’s centre-backs for the run of Portu. The captain put just a little too much power on his delivery, allowing Simon to gather - but it was well worth the try.

13' Real Sociedad are taking every opportunity they can to keep the ball in their own half and slow down the play. Le Normand and Zubeldia seem comfortable keeping possession in their ranks, moving Athletic’s attack from left to right in search of space.

11' A long delivery down the right finds its way through the Athletic defence for Isak, who keeps the play alive by finding David Silva. The playmaker looks to change the angle of the attack, but De Marcos steps across and intercepts the pass.

9' Athletic are pressing extremely quickly as soon as Sociedad make a pass backwards, with Williams and Raul Garcia immediately looking to catch Le Normand in possession. It’s forcing Alguacil’s side to move the ball around rapidly; perhaps too much so.

7' The heavens have opened up as the rain continues to hammer down in the south of Spain. It’s beginning to affect the way the match is played after Raul Garcia’s pass dies in the grass as water begins to accumulate.

5' Oyarzabal sprints down the left flank and plays a pass forward for Oyarzabal, who is forced to foul De Marcos, who had shielded the ball effectively. It’s a free-kick for Athletic, who can clear their lines with the set-piece.

3' It’s a frenetic start from both sides, who are looking to get the ball forward into opposition territory as quickly as possible. Both XIs seem nervous as the rain pours down in Sevilla, with neither able to keep the ball for any length of time.

1' Real Sociedad get the match underway from the kick-off!

Real Sociedad opt for a 4-3-3, with ex-Arsenal full-back Monreal lining up alongside Le Normand, Zubeldia and Gorosabel. The midfield trio features former Manchester City magician David Silva beside Zubimendi and Merino, while Portu and Oyarzabal flank either side of Isak.

Athletic line up in a 4-2-3-1, with Simon protected by a back four of De Marcos, Yeray, former Sociedad defender Martinez and Berchiche. Dani Garcia and Vencedor are expected to hold in midfield while the trio of Berenguer, Raul Garcia and captain Muniain supply striker Williams.

REAL SOCIEDAD SUBS: Gaizka Ayesa, Aritz Elustondo, Aihen Munoz, Mobido Sagnan, Ander Guevara, Carlos Fernandez, Adnan Januzaj, Ander Barrenetxea, Jon Bautista.

REAL SOCIEDAD XI (4-3-3): Alex Remiro; Nacho Monreal, Robin Le Normand, Igor Zubeldia, Andoni Gorosabel; David Silva, Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino; Mikel Oyarzabal, Alexander Isak, Cristian Portu.

ATHLETIC SUBS: Jokin Ezkieta, Unai Nunez, Mikel Vesga, Ibai Gomez, Unai Lopez, Inigo Lekue, Asier Villalibre, Ander Capa, Mikel Balenziaga.

ATHLETIC XI (4-2-3-1): Unai Simon; Oscar De Marcos, Yeray Alvarez, Inigo Martinez, Yuri Berchiche; Dani Garcia, Unai Vencedor; Alex Berenguer, Raul Garcia, Iker Muniain; Inaki Williams.

With 10 minutes to go before kick-off, let's take a look at how the two sides are lining up - starting with Athletic Bilbao!

Athletic Bilbao come into the match in better form with two draws in their last two fixtures, though it can’t get much worse for Sociedad - whose 1-0 defeat to Granada was followed up with a 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Barcelona just before the international break. It is today’s visitors who lead in the table, however, with 10 points separating Imanol Alguacil’s side in 6th from Marcelino’s, who occupy 9th.

Postponed last year due to the Coronavirus pandemic, both Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad have been eagerly anticipating this fixture; the first time the two Basque rivals will face in a Copa del Rey final. It’s been over three decades since either club has lifted the famous trophy, though Athletic have found silverware since then in the form of two Spanish Supercups in the last six years.

Neymar had to be separated from Tiago Djalo in the tunnel after both were shown red cards during Paris Saint-Germain’s loss to Lille.

With PSG trailing heading into the final couple of minutes, Neymar and Djalo tussled for the ball near the touchline before the latter was bundled over.

In his haste to get the ball, Neymar shoved Djalo to the floor and was shown a second yellow card by referee Benoit Bastien - while the Lille man was also dismissed for a foul-mouthed rant.

The aftermath

As the pair headed for the tunnel at the Parc des Princes, Neymar and Djalo continued their verbal sparring.

The pair were followed into the tunnel by officials from both clubs, and the row became more intense.

Neymar shoved Djalo and attempted to race around those separating the two in a bid to get to the Lille defender - who appeared ready to confront the Brazilian - before being ushered into the home dressing room.

A big blow for PSG

PSG have not had things easy in Ligue 1 this term, with Lille and Lyon mounting excellent title challenges.

Lille’s loss to Nimes before the international break opened the door for PSG, who went into Saturday’s game level on points.

However, their surprise 1-0 loss thanks to Jonathan David’s 20th-minute goal leaves them three points adrift and also facing up to being without their star forward on account of suspension.

Focus turns to Europe

PSG can shift their attentions away from the Ligue 1 title race this week, as they face Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Bayern, who strengthened their own domestic hand with a win at title rivals RB Leipzig on Saturday, will head into the first leg of the last-eight clash without star forward Robert Lewandowski on account of injury.

With pressure mounting domestically, PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino could do with a positive result to ease the tension.

LIVE: Arsenal vs Liverpool

56' Arsenal move the ball from side to side in midfield but again the attack breaks down as Chambers sees a cross blocked by Robertson. Arsenal have been better in the second half compared to the first but the hosts are still lacking any sort of meaningful presence upfront.

54' Ceballos catches Tiago late in midfield and the referee will have a word with the Arsenal midfielder for that.

51' Salah strikes at goal but Gabriel does well to block the Liverpool forwards effort from 15 yards out. The hosts are beginning to collectively fall deeper again on the pitch.

49' It’s already been a much more positive start to this half from Arsenal. The hosts look keen to get on the ball more in Liverpool’s half.

47' Arsenal have had just one shot in the first half of a Premier League home game for the first time since November 2015 vs Spurs. That probably sums up their first 45 minutes best. Gunners fans will be hoping for much better in this second half.

46' Both sets of players are back on the field and the second half begins!

If his side are to get anything from this match, boss Mikel Arteta will need to make some attacking changes in the second half. Arsenal have been lacklustre at best, and it feels like only a matter of time until Liverpool find a breakthrough.

The two sides head into the break goalless in a match that has seen little goalmouth action so far. Liverpool have dominated the possession throughout, and Milner should have done better with a strike at Leno’s goal halfway through the first half, but the home side have offered little in response.

45' + 3' HALF-TIME: ARSENAL 0-0 LIVERPOOL.

45' Tierney is currently down and receiving treatment after a clash of legs with Milner. This could be a big blow for the hosts.

43' It’s just not happening upfront for Arsenal. Odegaard finds Aubameyang with a fantastic reverse pass on the edge of the visitor's box but the forward can’t bring the ball under his spell at the crucial time.

41' Leno does well to punch clear a Liverpool free kick. As a result, Arsenal threaten to break but Liverpool do well to collectively recover to snuff out the danger.

38' Thiago has completed 40 passes so far in this Premier League clash, double that of any Arsenal player.

36' CLOSE! Alexander-Arnold advances down the right wing and picks out Milner with a lovely cut-back on the edge of the box. The central midfielder strikes first time under little pressure, but his effort from 20 yards goes just wide of the far post. He should have done much better there in truth.

34' Aubameyang breaks into the Liverpool box, checks his run to beat Alexander-Arnold and chips a cross to the far post. Pepe is there to meet it, but his header is straight at Alisson. That’s better from the hosts.

32' With 70% of the possession in this Premier League match, Liverpool have clearly dominated so far but until they find that vital breakthrough it’ll feel like many of their other matches this season where ultimately, they should have won but haven’t.

30' CLOSE! Firmino finds himself in plenty of space outside the Arsenal box but his strike from distance misses wide of the far post.

28' Milner flicks a ball into the Arsenal box and Mane meets the delivery with his head. The Liverpool forward turns it goalward but Leno deals with the effort easily. Alexander-Arnold then sees his volleyed effort from distance blocked on the edge of the host’s penalty area.

25' Speaking of Lacazette, the French forward has only touched the ball three times in the opening 25 minutes of play as Liverpool continue to stifle the host's attack.

24' Phillips catches Lacazatte with a stray arm as both players battle for the ball. Arsenal are awarded the free kick but there’s no further punishment for the Liverpool defender.

21' Liverpool force two corners in quick succession but neither amount to anything of note.

19' The visitors are knocking the ball around nicely in midfield but the link up play between Mane, Salah and Firmino in attack has been relatively poor so far. Arsenal are happy to sit back with men behind the ball and look for the counter-attack.

17' No fixture in Premier League history has seen more goals scored than Arsenal vs Liverpool (166). 94 of those goals have been scored by Liverpool, the most goals the Gunners have shipped against a single opponent in the competition.

15' CLOSE! Arsenal clear the danger from a Robertson cross but the ball falls to Fabinho. The Brazilian takes a touch before striking from 30 yards out but his right-footed effort zips just past the far post.

12' Milner strikes at goal from just outside the box but his right-footed effort on the half volley goes well wide of Leno's far post.

10' No attempts from either side in the first ten minutes to speak about. It’s been a very tentative start with both teams needing a big result in this Premier League clash. Liverpool are perhaps just edging it at the moment.

7' Arsenal have lost just one of their last eight home Premier League games (W4 D3), though they haven’t won back-to-back home league games since their first two this season against West Ham and Sheffield United.

5' Gabriel tries to flick a ball out wide to Tierney in the opposition half but he overhits his pass and Liverpool regroup. At the other end, Mane looks to feed Firmino through on goal but his attempted pass is poor and the Gunners escape.

3' It's been an even start here in north London with both sides guilty of giving away possession too easily so far. The midfield battle will certainly be intriguing in this Premier League clash given the players on show.

1' Referee Stuart Attwell blows his whistle and we’re underway here at the Emirates Stadium!

The players are emerging from the tunnel and kick-off is just moments away.

Liverpool have won just two of their last 20 Premier League away games against Arsenal (D9 L9), winning 2-0 in August 2011 and 4-3 in August 2016.

The visitors are still suffering with a lengthy injury list, especially in defence so as a result Phillips and Kabak continue as the two central defenders with Alexander-Arnold and Robertson taking up their usual spots as the full-backs. Fabinho, Milner and Thiago form a strong presence in the centre of the park whilst Salah and Mane start either side of Firmino upfront for the Reds.

The hosts are without young stars Emile Smith-Rowe and Bukayo Saka who both fail late fitness tests but elsewhere on the pitch, the Gunners are relatively injury-free. Bellerin, Holding, Gabriel and Tierney form the backline as Partey and Ceballos anchor the midfield. Odegaard continues as the attacking midfielder after impressing of late whilst Aubameyang and Pepe start on either wing. Lacazette leads the line for Mikel Arteta’s side.

LIVERPOOL SUBS: Adrian, Konstantinos Tsimikas, Rhys Williams, Curtis Jones, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Xherdan Shaqiri, Georginio Wijnaldum, Diogo Jota.

LIVERPOOL (4-3-3): Alisson; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Nathaniel Phillips, Ozan Kabak, Andrew Robertson; Fabinho, Thiago, James Milner; Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane.

ARSENAL SUBS: Mat Ryan, Cedric Soares, Hector Bellerin, Pablo Mari, Mohamed Elneny, Willian, Gabriel Martinelli, Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah.

ARSENAL (4-2-3-1): Bernd Leno; Calum Chambers, Rob Holding, Gabriel, Kieran Tierney; Dani Ceballos, Thomas Partey; Nicolas Pepe, Martin Odegaard, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang; Alexandre Lacazette.

Premier League football returns after the international break with a huge clash between two of England’s most historic and successful sides. Arsenal will be looking to take a sizeable scalp on home soil as a victory in this clash would take the north London side just a point behind the visitors. Meanwhile, Liverpool are desperately searching for a win on the road as Jurgen Klopp’s men battle to keep their top-four hopes alive.

Hello and welcome to our live text commentary of this Premier League fixture between Arsenal and Liverpool.

Boca Juniors vs Defensa y Justicia: How to watch Liga Argentina matches

The Xeneize are looking to get back on track on Saturday after going winless in their last two Copa games

How to watch Boca Juniors vs Defensa y Justicia

Boca performed a clean sweep in domestic competition over 2020 with league and cup wins, and once more started out as one of the favourites in this new tournament.

That success, though, was overshadowed by a disappointing exit from the Copa Libertadores at the hands of Santos, extending the club's drought to 14 years.

The pressure is on to perform at continental level, but Boca, who began the weekend outside of the top four after drawing 1-1 with Independiente in their last outing, will also be expected to reach the latter stages of this Copa as a bare minimum.

Defensa y Justicia achieved an historic first in 2020 with their maiden title, the Copa Sudamericana.

And despite losing coach Hernan Crespo to Sao Paulo the Florencio Varela side remain competitive, winning three and drawing two of their opening Copa games this year to stay in the chase for the play-offs.

Oparanozie plays key role as Dijon silence Le Havre

The Nigerian continued with her impressive displays this season as she played a part in her side's crucial winner on Saturday

Desire Oparanozie made an impactful contribution for Dijon after providing an assist to lead her side to a 2-0 win at Le Havre in a French D1 Arkema encounter on Saturday.

The Nigeria international earned her 13th start of the season for Yannick Chandioux's team, following her superb contribution in a 3-1 win over Fleury 91 before bowing 2-0 to Lyon a week ago.

To bounce back from the Lyon defeat the last time out, the Dijonnaise travelled to their struggling hosts with the sole ambition of returning to winning ways, and they eventually achieved it.

On the other hand, Le Havre aimed to avoid their 16th defeat of the season, in a home dual against Dijon, having only managed five points from 17 games but unfortunately compounded their woes.

Dijon began the game on a bright note when Shnia Gordan opened their scoring against Thierry Uvenard's side in the 18th minute.

Four minutes later, Oparanozie provided a fine pass to Solene Barbance to guarantee the visitors victory at Stade Oceane.

Oparanozie, who was in action from start to finish has now provided six assists along with four goals in 14 outings for Dijon this term, while Moroccan Salma Amani was an unused substitute.

The result saw Dijon return to the eighth position on the French women's top-flight log with 23 points from 18 matches this season.

Heading into the international break, Nigerians will hope to see Oparanozie's return to the Nigerian fold since July 2019 when the country hosts a four-nation tournament in Lagos.

After a two-week international break, Dijon will hope to maintain their highflying form at Stade de Reims on April 17.

Simy’s brace not enough as Osimhen’s goal helps Napoli edge Crotone in seven-goal thriller

The Nigeria stars found the back of the net in the fiercely contested match which saw the hosts come out victorious at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona

Simeon Nwankwo scored a brace in Saturday's Serie A match but it was not enough as Victor Osimhen's goal helped Napoli beat Crotone 4-3.

The defeat was Crotone's 22nd league defeat this season but Simy's contributions at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona took his tally to 15 goals after 29 league matches so far.

Osimhen, meanwhile, scored his fourth Serie A goal of the season by making it 2-0 for Gennaro Gattuso's side, three minutes after Lorenzo Insigne opened the scoring in the 19th minute.

Shortly after, Libya midfielder Ahmed Benali provided the assist for Simy to reduce the deficit for Crotone in the 25th minute but Dries Mertens restored Napoli's two-goal lead in the 34th minute.

Three minutes after the restart, Simy found the back of the net again and Junior Messias scored the equaliser for the visitors in the 59th minute.

With Crotone hoping to pick up their first point since their 4-2 win over Torino on March 7, Giovanni Di Lorenzo's 72nd-minute winner dealt a blow to them as Gattuso's men remain unbeaten in their last six matches.

Crotone are still rooted to the bottom of the Serie A table following the defeat with 15 points after 28 matches while Napoli are in fifth spot with 53 points from 27 outings.

Simy has scored eight goals in his last five matches for the Pythagoreans and he will be aiming to continue his rich vein of form when they travel to Spezia on April 10.

Osimhen, on the other hand, will hope to build on his second Serie A goal of the year when Napoli visit Juventus for a league match on Wednesday.

Osimhen recently returned from international duty with Nigeria where he scored a goal in the Super Eagles' 3-0 win over Lesotho in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Tuesday. Simy, however, was not included in Gernot Rohr's 24-man squad for the two games against Benin and the Crocodiles.
