LIVE: Wolves vs Arsenal

LIVE: Wolves vs Arsenal

There goes the half-time whistle! Arsenal dominated the first half, with Saka hitting the post and having a goal disallowed by VAR before Pepe opened the scoring, curling in after some impressive skill to beat two defenders. However, just seconds before the half-time whistle, David Luiz brought Willian Jose down in the box, earning himself a straight red card and conceding a penalty that Neves dispatched coolly. It's 1-1 at the break!

45' + 5' HALF-TIME WOLVES 1-1 ARSENAL

45' + 4' There's a delay as VAR check over the decision, but no changes are recommended. Arsenal are down to 10 men and Wolves have a golden opportunity to equalise.

45' Kilman passes the ball straight out of play when attempting to find Neto just a few yards away. The young defender is having a difficult night.

43' Leno rises to claim a cross and is caught on the way down by Traore. He clutches his ankle in pain but eventually gets back to his feet and seems to be able to carry on.

40' Neves takes on a trademark effort from distance and catches it cleanly, but Leno is positioned well and makes a comfortable save.

38' Wolves look to test Arsenal and win a couple of corners, but the Gunners manage to clear their lines and survive the pressure. The visitors haven't looked entirely convincing when defending set-pieces.

36' Smith Rowe tries to slip the ball through for Pepe, who has popped up on the right and makes a darting run in behind, but it runs a little too close to Patricio, who gathers the pass.

34' Pepe has scored three goals in his last four Premier League starts for Arsenal, as many as in his previous 16 starts in the competition. He has also scored in three away league appearances in a row for first time since January 2019 for Lille (four in a row).

30' Partey takes on a speculative effort from distance but it's blocked away. Arsenal keep the pressure on and force a couple of corners, but Wolves get it away.

27' Arsenal are finding plenty of joy down their right flank, with Saka regularly getting the better of Kilman. Partey's passing into that space has been superb as well.

25' CROSSBAR! Smith Rowe is released down the left after a quick one-two and he gets to the byline before checking back and laying it off to Pepe, who cracks a vicious effort towards the top corner, but Patricio tips it onto the bar!

23' SAVE! Semedo hits a low, stinging drive that bounces just in front of Leno, forcing the goalkeeper to parry back into the danger zone. Holding is quickest to the loose ball and clears it behind under pressure for a corner.

21' Wolves finally enjoy a spell of possession of their own but they haven't been able to create anything as yet. Arsenal have had to organise themselves off the ball and drop a little deeper than they were.

19' Wolves have settled after Arsenal's strong start. The Gunners are still dominating the ball, however, with Partey in particular running the midfield.

17' Podence plays a neat one-two and gets in behind Cedric down the Wolves right, but Luiz comes across and manages to block the cross from the byline.

15' Partey dinks another terrific ball over the top for Saka to race onto on the right and he cuts inside before flashing the ball across goal, but nobody can get a touch and the flag then goes up for offside.

11' OVER! Moutinho swings a right-wing corner into the middle and Kilman meets it with his head, but he can't get over it and nods over the bar! He really should have done better with that chance.

9' GOAL DISALLOWED! Lacazette's right foot is marginally offside as Holding flicks the ball on to him and, as a result, Saka's strike is chalked off! Wolves have got away with it once more!

9' Cedric swings a cross in from the left that Holding - still in the box following an earlier free-kick - flicks on to Lacazette at the back post. The striker cuts it back to Saka, lurking just inside the box and the Englishman thumps the ball inside the far post with his weaker right foot! However, a VAR check is being conducted.

6' Cedric advances down the left wing and cuts inside before striking a speculative effort from distance that he catches well, but it hits Lacazette and spins behind for a goal-kick.

4' SAVE! Cedric drives into the box down the left and his cut-back finds Saka on the right side of the box. The teenager swivels and thumps a low effort towards the near post, but Patricio is down to make the save!

1' POST! How are Arsenal not in front?! Partey lofts a beautiful ball over the top for Saka, who races past Kilman and into the box, but somehow the youngster smashes his effort against the far post with just Patricio to beat! The Gunners could have been ahead inside the first minute!

1' We're underway at Molineux!

Since Christmas Day, Arsenal have averaged 14.9 shots per Premier League game (5.7 on target), and have an expected goals (xG) average of 1.8 per game. Before Christmas, the Gunners were averaging 10.4 shots per game (3.3 on target), with an xG average of 1.1.

Since Jimenez last scored for Wolves at Molineux against Newcastle, their 10 home goals in all competitions have been scored by eight different players: Ait-Nouri, Podence (2), Neto (2), Saiss, Traore, Neves, Silva and Boly.

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta makes just one alteration to the side that drew 0-0 with Manchester United in their last outing. Martinelli drops to the bench, with the fit-again Saka taking his place. Kieran Tierney, Pablo Mari and Mat Ryan are sidelined with injuries, while club captain Aubameyang returns to the bench.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo makes two changes to the side that suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace last time out. Hoever and Dendoncker drop to the bench and are replaced in the starting line-up by Traore and Neves. Rayan Ait-Nouri, Romain Saiss, Fernando Marcal, Raul Jimenez and Jonny are all ruled out through injury.

Arsenal substitutes: Runar Alex Runarsson, Willian, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Calum Chambers, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Gabriel, Mohamed Elneny, Dani Ceballos.

Arsenal XI (4-2-3-1): Bernd Leno; Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding, David Luiz, Cedric Soares; Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka; Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Nicolas Pepe; Alexandre Lacazette.

Wolves substitutes: Owen Otasowie, Fabio Silva, Lewis Richards, Morgan Gibbs-White, Leander Dendoncker, Ki-Jana Hoever, Vitinha, John Ruddy.

Wolves XI (4-2-3-1): Rui Patricio; Nelson Semedo, Conor Coady, Willy Boly, Max Kilman; Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho; Adama Traore, Daniel Podence, Pedro Neto; Willian Jose.

An out-of-sorts Wolves - who are winless in their last eight Premier League games - will be hoping to shake off their recent malaise as they host an Arsenal side that are unbeaten in their last seven in the league.
