How Leroy Sané Will Fit in at Bayern Munich Next Season

After making a false start against Cote d’Ivoire, the Flying Eagles must defeat the Black Satellites to qualify for the next round of the competition

Former Newcastle & West Ham manager Glenn Roeder dies aged 65

24' It looks like play will be resuming at the Parc des Princes shortly, 10pm local time, which is in roughly five minutes.

24' In the other game in Group H, RB Leipzig are beating Manchester United 2-0 in Germany and as it stands, they would qualify for the knockout stages and United would be knocked out.

24' The players from both sides have walked off the pitch now and the match has been suspended for now.

22' Basaksehir's assistant manager Pierre Webo has alleged that the fourth official has made a racist remark, which is why play has been stopped.

19' There is still a stoppage here, as the officials discuss what has happened on the sidelines and how to proceed. It looks like the officials are indicating that play may be stopped for a period of time.

16' There is some controversy on the sidelines and a red card has been shown to a member of the Basaksehir coaching staff. A few players have crowded around the officials and it looks there is a big problem here.

14' PSG have won their last four UEFA Champions League games against Turkish opponents, scoring 10 goals and keeping a clean sheet in all four. Three of these games have come since the start of last season, having faced Galatasaray twice in 2019-20.

9' A draw would see PSG through to the knockout stages, but they'll want to go out with a win to make sure that they top the group and potentially get a better tie in the next round.

7' Not too far away! Mbappe does well to get into the penalty area down the right, he dribbles past a couple of players, before trying to square the ball to a team-mate in the six-yard box. However, the visitors clear the ball, but only to the edge of the area and Paredes picks it up, firing a low shot towards goal, but it flies just wide.

6' Basaksehir are playing a good high press and when they are defending they are getting five or six men back, which is making it difficult for PSG to find space to get in-behind.

4' The hosts are edging the possession at the moment, but there isn't much pace to the game and the Turkish side are comfortably defending in the middle of the pitch so far.

2' PSG go on the attack straight away and Bakker gets forward down the left wing, winning a corner as his cross into the box is blocked by Rafael. However, Neymar's set piece delivery is easily gathered in the air by Gunok.

1' We're under way!

The teams are out on the pitch and kick-off is just a few minutes away, stay tuned for all the match action!

Meanwhile the visitors have made four changes to their side, after their 1-1 draw against Yeni Malatyaspor on Saturday, with Skrtel, Giuliano, Chadli and Demba Ba all dropping out of the starting XI. They have been replaced by Topal, Ozcan, Turuc and Crivelli.

Thomas Tuchel has made a host of changes to the side that beat Montpellier at the weekend, with only Navas, Bakker and Rafinha remaining in the starting line-up, with the likes of Mbappe, Neymar and Verratti come into the side.

BASAKSEHIR SUBS: Emre Kaplan, Enes Karakus, Volkan Babacan, Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo, Ahmet Said Kivanc, Giuliano, Nacer Chadli, Demba Ba.

BASAKSEHIR (4-3-3): Fehmi Mert Gunok; Rafael, Carlos Ponck, Mehmet Topal, Hasan Ali Kaldirim; Irfan Can Kahveci, Mahmut Tekdemir, Berkay Ozcan; Deniz Turuc, Enzo Crivelli, Fredrik Gulbrandsen.

PSG SUBS: Bandiougou Fadiga, Idrissa Gueye, Angel Di Maria, Alexandre Letellier, Layvin Kurzawa, Timothee Pembele, Colin Dagba, Abdou Diallo, Sergio Rico, Thilo Kehrer, Moise Kean, Ander Herrera.

PSG (3-5-2): Keylor Navas; Marquinhos, Danilo Pereira, Presnel Kimpembe; Alessandro Florenzi, Marco Verratti, Leandro Paredes, Rafinha, Mitchel Bakker; Kylian Mbappe, Neymar.

The previous game between these two sides saw PSG come out 2-0 winners back in October and Basaksehir’s only victory in this group came against Manchester United, beating them 2-1 on matchday two. However, they are bottom of the group, with just three points and they are unable to progress any further, so they do not have anything to play for today.

PSG will be through to the knockout stages of the Champions League if they avoid defeat today and a win will see them top the group. They beat Manchester United 3-1 at Old Trafford last week, after two goals from Neymar and another from Marquinhos.

Hello and welcome to our LIVE match commentary of the Champions League Group H clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Istanbul Basaksehir at the Parc des Princes.

Son 'proud' of Dele Alli after acknowledging Tottenham team-mate has been through 'a tough time'

It's been another baffling display from the English side. When things were going badly against West Ham, Solskjaer wasn't afraid to make changes at the break and I'd be amazed if he doesn't do the same here. They were second best in every department and have 45 minutes to save their Champions League hopes this season.

Manchester United's hopes of qualification hang by a thread after a disastrous first-half display. Leipzig immediately looked the better side and opened the scoring in just the second minute when Sabitzer's cross was thundered past De Gea by Manchester City loanee Angelino. And it went from bad to worse just 11 minutes later when Angelino turned provider. His back-post cross found Haidada unmarked and the midfielder placed a brilliant first-time volley into the far corner. United had a couple of half chances, but in all honestly, they go in at the break lucky only to be 2-0 behind.

45' + 3' HALF-TIME: RB LEIPZIG 2-0 MANCHESTER UNITED

45' + 2' Greenwood sweeps it forward. Rashford lays it off nicely for Fernandes but the home side recover into their shape so quickly.

45' + 1' There will be two minutes of added time.

45' The home side have a corner as we approach half-time. Maguire's clearing header drops for Sabitzer on the volley but it's over the bar.

42' Fernandes' ball in is met by McTominay at the back post and the midfielder's header back into the danger area causes confusion briefly before the hosts clear.

41' Angelino has a chance to cross but gets it all wrong and United break with Greenwood. He has Rashford to his right but his pass is massively overhit. The striker recovers to win his side a free-kick.

39' Rashford is running through but gets the ball caught under his feet a little. Orban has the chance to make the tackle and does, much to the frustration of the United striker.

38' CHANCE! Orban makes a mess of a simple cross and Greenwood has a chance to shoot. It results in a corner and from the delivery, Maguire rises highest to direct a header goalwards before the referee penalises McTominay for an infringement in the box.

36' The cross is partially cleared before Wan-Bissaka lines up an effort from the edge of the box. However, the full-back is just beaten to the ball before Leipzig clear.

35' Sabitzer needs to be careful. He gives away another free-kick seconds after receiving a yellow card.

34' Only against Juventus in April 1999 (11 minutes) have Man Utd been 0-2 down earlier in a Champions League match than they are today against RB Leipzig (13 mins). They're lucky it's only two!

33' Rashford has a shot on goal but it's well blocked by Orban. Greenwood was available in space but these United strikers are so tuned to strike on sight.

29' HUGE LET-OFF FOR UNITED! Leipzig have the ball in the net and it looks for all the world like it's going to be 3-0. Konate's header hit the post before Orban tapped in on the follow-up. The linesman kept his flag down but VAR confirmed the defender was in an offside position.

29' CHANCE! Forsberg breaks and attempts to tee up Sabitzer but his pass is just overhit. Shaw clears for a corner!

29' Telles gets to the byline and has a cross blocked. The ball is eventually worked back into defence before the hosts steal possession.

27' United have another free-kick, this time from deeper. Telles takes but overhits it into the hands of Gulacsi.

25' Rashford gets the better of Orban and switches play to Shaw on the left. The Englishman has Telles in front and finds the Portuguese player but he is swarmed immediately by a host of Leipzig players. United can barely breathe out here.

23' United have a chance from a dangerous free-kick. Fernandes and Telles are over it but it's the former who hits it straight into the wall. The away side eventually win a corner and Greenwood has a chance from Telles' delivery but his header is over the bar.

22' Contrary to the reported line-up, United are operating with a back three of Lindelof, Maguire and Shaw, with Wan-Bissaka and Telles playing as wing-backs.

20' The system just isn't working for United. They can't create anything going forward and their opponents are finding space at will. This will be a test of Solskjaer's tactical nous - can he arrest the momentum?

19' The Red Devils enjoy a breif spell of possession before Kampl fouls Fernandes.

17' SHOULD BE THREE! Angelino finds Forsberg in the box who has time to control the ball and line up a shot from close range. He should bury it, but thankfully for United, his effort is inches wide.

16' Where do United go from here? They've been undone by two simple passages of play. Is it too early to change things for Solskjaer?

15' Angelino has had a hand in six goals in six CL apps this season (3 goals, 3 assists).

12' Leipzig are applying intense pressure on every United player who receives the ball, making it hard for the away side to get out their half.

11' Leipzig win the first corner of the game. It's partially cleared by United before the home side get the ball back into the box.

9' WHAT A CHANCE! Matic wins the ball back and feeds Fernandes who has space to break forward. Greenwood and Rashford are options but he chooses the former who works a great chance to score. Surprisingly, the effort is a little tame and Gulacsi gets down to make a smart stop.

7' Angelino is found in acres of space on the left again. Wan-Bissaka tries to get back but the full-back is able to get a shot on target that forces De Gea into a save.

6' It's all Leipzig in these opening stages. United seem too eager to remain in their defensive shape and that's inviting pressure.

1' Referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz blows his whistle and RB Leipzig get the game underway.

The teams are out on the pitch now, with kick-off just moments away.

Opposite number Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rung the changes for this one. At the back, De Gea is between the sticks and Shaw returns at left-back after a month on the sidelines. Matic is preferred alongside McTominay with Pogba, who apparently can’t wait to leave United, starting as a substitute. Unsurprisingly, Solskjaer has recalled Fernandes to the starting XI in place of Van De Beek, but very surprisingly, it is Telles who lines up on the left-wing ahead of Martial. Cavani picked up a slight knock against West Ham so Rashford, who scored a hat-trick the last time these sides met, gets the nod to start up front.

Julian Nagelsmann has made three changes to the team that played out a six-goal thriller with Bayern. Orban joins the defence as Dayot Upamenco drops from the squad completely. Kampl returns to the starting XI in place of Adams and Olmo starts up front on his own with Kluivert dropping to the bench.

MANCHESTER UNITED SUBS: Dean Henderson, Axel Tuanzebe, Lee Grant, Eric Bailly, Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Daniel James, Brandon Williams, Odion Ighalo.

MANCHESTER UNITED (4-2-3-1): David de Gea; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire (c), Luke Shaw; Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic; Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, Alex Telles; Marcus Rashford.

RB LEIPZIG SUBS: Joscha Wosz, Alexander Sorloth, Philipp Tschauner, Marcel Halstenberg, Yussuf Poulsen, Tyler Adams, Justin Kluivert, Josep Martinez, Eric Martel.

RB LEIPZIG (4-3-2-1): Peter Gulacsi; Nordi Mukiele, Ibrahima Konate, Willi Orban, Angelino; Marcel Sabitzer (c), Amadou Haidara, Kevin Kampl; Christopher Nkunku, Emil Forsberg; Dani Olmo.

Their opponents are on a strange old run of form. In their latest group game against PSG, but for a lack of composure in front of goal, United could have easily snatched what would have been a deserved three points. On the flip side, despite playing some awful football for the best part of an hour against West Ham at the weekend, they left the London Stadium as 3-1 victors. That you don’t know what you’re going to get with United makes this game all the more compelling. Team news is next.

And if it’s anything like Leipzig’s previous two outings, we’re in for a treat. The Red Bulls scored in the 92nd minute to win 4-3 away to Basaksehir in their last group game and split six goals with Bayern Munich at the weekend to leave the Allianz Arena with a point. They sit third in the Bundesliga and have tasted victory in their last seven home fixtures.

Both sides are level on nine points with Paris Saint-Germain coming into this crucial tie that will – along with the section’s other match – determine who qualifies for the knockout stages. The English giants have the slight advantage as they just need to avoid defeat whereas, assuming PSG don’t lose to Istanbul Basaksehir, nothing but a win will do for the hosts. In the reverse fixture, a second-half masterclass from Marcus Rashford gave the Red Devils a thumping 5-0 triumph, but I have a feeling it’ll be a little closer this time around.

Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Champions League Group H meeting between RB Leipzig and Manchester United from the Red Bull Arena.

The best FIFA Club World Cup matches of all time

The hosts will surely have to come out and chase this game, with Koeman perhaps looking to the likes of the in-form Braithwaite or Coutinho off the bench. For the Italians, Pirlo will simply be asking for more of the same from his side, who constantly look dangerous on the counter-attack as the hosts commit more and more men forward.

Pirlo's side profited from a lightning start as Ronaldo opened the scoring from the penalty spot, after being brought down by Araujo inside the area. McKennie then doubled the visitors' lead with an impressive, acrobatic finish, courtesy of Cuadrado's good work down the right. Koeman's men then enjoyed sustained spells of possession but rarely threatened Buffon's goal, which is why Juventus go in 2-0 up at half-time.

45' + 3' HALF-TIME: BARCELONA 0-2 JUVENTUS

45' + 2' Messi manages to get a shot away inside the area but appears to have been dragged down by McKennie in his attempts to do so. Play goes on while VAR has a look at the decision before agreeing with the referee and giving nothing.

45' + 1' There will be two minutes of added time as the visitors still appear content to sit on the edge of their own area and aim to counter-attack when the hosts slip up.

45' Trincao plays in Dest towards the byline on the right and the full-back drives a good cross across the face of goal, however, no one in a Barcelona shirt is there to meet the pass.

44' Cuadrado has his arms in the air as he feels the referee was too hasty in awarding the hosts a free-kick wide on the right. Koeman's side take it quickly before Messi is crowded out on the edge of the area by McKennie and Bonnuci.

43' Pjanic rather unselfishly opts to pass rather than shoot, sliding in Dest to the right of him inside the area. The right-back can then only place a right-footed effort wide of Buffon's goal under little pressure. He will feel he should be doing better from that sort of position.

41' Messi and Trincao combine down the right with relative joy before the former cuts in on his favoured left foot but a wall of Juventus shirts greet the shot to block it away from danger.

40' Cuadrado goes flying down the right and slots in Morata, Araujo again does remarkably well to manage the striker's run and intervene without giving away a corner.

39' Morata runs straight through the centre of the pitch and is found by Danilo, however, Araujo does well as the last defender to intercept and play backwards towards Ter Stegen.

37' Juventus are camped on the edge of the area but Koeman's side cannot play through them. Morata then rushes away down the left before sensibly opting to play backwards and retain possession, giving his side a deserved break from defending.

36' CHANCE! Alba is slid in by Messi out wide and immediately looks to return the favour towards the hosts' captain. Messi runs onto the return pass before his left-footed effort is saved well by Buffon moving to his right in goal.

35' The hosts are insistent on pressing high and they are winning the ball back in good areas. However, every time Juventus break the press it looks like there will be a chance. This time, Ronaldo and Morata attempt to counter-attack before the former's pass is cut out by Araujo.

34' Dest does well against two Juventus players to work the ball back inside. The hosts then play out towards the left before Alba loses posession and the move breaks down.

32' Messi is fouled near the centre circle as fouls appear to have taken over this game in the last ten minutes or so. Pirlo and his men will be delighted either way as, at this rate, they only need one more goal to qualify as winners of Group G.

30' Messi plays the simplest of passes to tee up Pjanic but the midfielder can only drive his right-foooted effort wide to the left of Buffon from the edge of the area.

28' Ramsey has the chance to slide in Ronaldo through the middle, however, his attempts to volley are poor and then the Welsh midfielder clatters into Lenglet in the air. The hosts do not appear best pleased as that is Ramsey's second foul in three minutes.

25' CHANCE! Juventus create a chance down the other wing this time as Alex Sandro whips in a left-footed cross. Morata meets the wing-back's ball in, but his flicked header at the near post sails just over Ter Stegen's goal.

24' Cuadrado and Morata both attempt to cross into Barcelona's area and the latter's attempt looks to smash into Pjanic's hands, however, the referee disagrees and insists play goes on.

22' SAVE! Messi takes matter into his own hands, driving in from the left before drilling a low left-footed effort from 20 yards out. Buffon is more than capable of responding to Messi's effort as he gets down well, diving to his left to tip the shot around the post.

20' Dest makes his side's poor start even worse as he produces a foul throw on the right-hand touchline to gift possession back to the visitors. Alex Sandro is then extremely fortunate to keep the ball as he is swarmed by four Barcelona shirts on the left.

18' The hosts manipulate possession from side to side for a couple of minutes, with both Messi and Dest attempting to penetrate Juventus' three-man defence out wide. Pirlo's men defend well and eventually regain possession inside their own half.

16' Cuadrado is in acres of space wide on the right, which Morata acknowledges with a long pass. However, his right-footed diagonal pass is way off target and trickles out near the halfway line for a Barcelona throw-in.

15' Morata looks to be in on goal after Ramsey's curling pass but Araujo does well to get his body between the striker and the ball as Ter Stegen sweeps up the danger.

14' Ronaldo has scored 16 goals in his last 21 appearances versus Barcelona in all competitions, including netting in two of his last three games against them while with Real Madrid.

12' PENALTY TO JUVENTUS! Ronaldo is played in by Cuadrado and gets one-on-one with Araujo in the area. After the Portuguese forward heads towards the byline, Araujo drags him down and the referee points to the penalty spot with no hesitation!

11' It has been a positive start by the Italian side so far. However, their only away victory at Camp Nou in the Champions League came back in April 2003 (2-1), having failed to win either of their two trips there in the competition since (D1 L1) - 0-0 in 2016-17 and 0-3 in 2017-18.

10' WIDE! Alex Sandro finds Ronaldo in the area and the Portuguese forward tees up Danilo 25 yards from goal. Unfortunately for Pirlo's side, the Brazillian's right-footed effort then whistles just wide of Ter Stegen's right-hand post.

9' Ronaldo ignores the option of Cuadrado out wide and instead steers a left-footed shot straight into the hands of Ter Stegen in the hosts' goal.

8' Ramsey and Alex Sandro exchange passes down the left before the wing-back does well to earn a throw-in for his side in the corner. The opportunity then fades away as De Ligt handles a loose pass on the edge of the area and Barcelona are awarded a free-kick.

6' This time it is De Jong's turn to escape a booking as he and Lenglet combine to foul Morata before the visitors can attack through the middle. That is two fouls in as many minutes which referee Stieler has let go.

5' McKennie smartly fouls near the centre circle to stop Pedri from breaking on the counter-attack, luckily for Juventus' midfielder, referee Stieler does not book him and instead opts to verbally warn him.

3' Griezmann dummies past Pedri's driven pass into the area but Trincao is not quick enough to pounce on the loose ball as Alex Sandro then clears long.

2' Alex Sandro looks to cut a pass back to the edge of the area, after good work from Morata, however, Pjanic is there to intercept before the visitors can test Barcelona's defence.

1' Referee Tobias Stieler blows his whistle to get this Champions League fixture underway!

The players are making their way onto Camp Nou's pitch and shortly kick-off will be upon us.

The hosts have gone unbeaten in their last four meetings with Juventus in the Champions League (W2 D2), winning two of the three games in this run that occurred in the group stage (D1).

Andrea Pirlo reverts back to a three-man defence in front of Buffon, who replaces Szczesny. Morata is back from suspension to partner Ronaldo, who renews his great rivalry with Messi here, as the pair meet for the first time since May 2018.

Ronald Koeman makes four changes from Barcelona’s 2-1 loss at Cadiz. Araujo comes in at the back, while Trincao and Pedri start on either wing. The other change sees Busquets drop to the bench for fit-again Pjanic.

SUBS: Dejan Kulusevski, Radu Dragusin, Rodrigo Bentancur, Cosimo Marco Da Graca, Gianluca Frabotta, Paulo Dybala, Wojciech Szczesny, Adrien Rabiot, Federico Chiesa, Manolo Portanova, Carlo Pinsoglio, Federico Bernardeschi.

JUVENTUS (3-5-2): Gianluigi Buffon; Matthijs de Ligt, Leanardo Bonucci, Danilo; Juan Cuadrado, Arthur, Weston McKennie, Aaron Ramsey, Alex Sandro; Cristiano Ronaldo, Alvaro Morata.

SUBS: Phillipe Coutinho, Riqui Puig, Samuel Umtiti, Junior Firpo, Neto, Sergio Busquets, Carles Alena, Matheus Fernandes, Oscar Mingueza, Inaki Pena, Martin Braithwaite, Konrad De la Fuente.

BARCELONA (4-2-3-1): Marc-Andre ter Stegen; Jordi Alba, Clement Lenglet, Sergino Dest, Ronald Araujo; Frenkie de Jong, Miralem Pjanic; Lionel Messi, Pedri, Trincao; Antoine Griezmann.

Both sides have already qualified from this group, with the hosts sitting three points clear of their visitors at the top. The hosts will remain top of the group so long as they do not lose by more than one goal here.

The Soldiers have received their wired money to prepare for league matches after signing the broadcast deal

FKF has disbursed Ksh2million to Ulinzi Stars' account as the first grant for signing the StarTimes broadcast deal.

Ulinzi Stars have officially received the Sh2million grant from the sponsors after they endorsed the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and StarTimes broadcast deal.

The Soldiers were among the three ‘rebel’ clubs that were yet to endorse the deal since the season kicked off three weeks ago but signed the same on Tuesday, a move which saw the team included in the 2020-21 fixtures.

And now a source within the federation has confirmed to Goal they have also received the Sh2million grant from sponsors BetKing and StarTimes, and will now start the season with a league match against Gor Mahia at Kasarani Stadium on Saturday, which will be live on StarTimes.

“We have sent Ulinzi Stars the sponsorship grant that they will now use to prepare for the game against Gor Mahia,” the source, who did not want to be named told Goal. “They have received Sh2million like all the teams that had signed the deal received.”

The Soldiers have also confirmed they are back in the league, “The dust has settled," Ulinzi Stars wrote on their social media pages.

"We start off our season this weekend. Saturday, to be precise...we face off with the reigning champions, Gor Mahia at Kasarani starting 3 pm.”

Both Gor Mahia and Ulinzi Stars were among the teams which were reluctant to sign the deal but Gor Mahia later signed through their secretary-general Sam Ochola while Ulinzi Stars endorsed the same, hours after FKF had threatened to kick out the ‘rebel’ clubs from taking part in the league.

In an exclusive interview earlier on Tuesday, a source in FKF told Goal the FKF National Executive Committee was set to kick out the teams and that the decision had the blessing of world governing body Fifa.

“The three ‘rebel’ clubs are on the verge of being kicked out of the league by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of FKF,” the source, who did not want to be named, told Goal on Tuesday.

“They will be removed because the FKF has the obligation that every team affiliated to their league must sign the undertaking by StarTimes so that their matches are screened live on TV.

“It is already matchday two and they have refused to sign the endorsement, they have remained adamant despite perusing through the document, FKF has also written to them more than four times, and they are still saying they cannot sign, we cannot keep changing fixtures every week because of their stand, they will be kicked out.”

The source continued: “Something significant will happen this week because the TV rights belong to FKF and not the clubs, FKF have no choice but to crack the whip, we cannot wait for them any longer.

“We have talked to them for the last four weeks [on why they should sign the document], but they have refused, and now a decision has been made and the decision is to kick them out of the league.”

In the revised fixtures, Nairobi City Stars will take on Bandari at Kasarani on ‘Friday, while on Saturday, Western Stima will welcome Tusker in Kisumu, Gor Mahia host Ulinzi Stars, and Kariobangi Sharks battle Bidco United at Utalii Grounds.

On Sunday, KCB will take on Kakamega HomeboyzVihiga United battle Nzoia Sugar, AFC Leopards entertain Sofapaka while Posta Rangers will come up against Wazito FC.

'We often don't realise what Zidane has achieved' - Casemiro backs coach ahead of crucial Gladbach game

The Merengue are in danger of bombing out of the Champions League in the group stage in Wednesday's final round of matches

Casemiro has made clear Real Madrid's squad are firmly behind Zinedine Zidane as they aim to avoid a hugely embarrassing Champions League exit.

Madrid have become accustomed to success in Europe's premier club competition under Zidane, having lifted the trophy three times during his first spell in charge.

However, the reigning LaLiga champions were dumped out at the last-16 stage last season, going down 4-2 on aggregate to Manchester City, and are in serious danger of failing to make it out of their group for the first time ever.

Los Blancos sit third in the table going into the final round of fixtures, when they will play host to leaders Borussia Monchengladbach in the Spanish capital on Wednesday.

Having also faltered in the early stages of their title defence, Zidane's future has come into serious question – and missing out on the knockout rounds would only increase speculation he could be set for the sack.

Midfielder Casemiro, however, insists the under-pressure head coach retains the faith of his players.

"What am I going to say about Zidane? He has made history, last year he won two trophies. We often don't realise what Zidane has done," the Brazil international said.

"The season is strange, it's true. The pre-season was not good and playing every two or three days is difficult.

"The team is with the coach. And I value what he has done and what he is doing."

Madrid have only lost one of their previous five meetings with Gladbach in European competition, albeit three of those fixtures have ended in draws.

Zidane has only failed to make it out of the group stage once in his entire career, back in 2000 when he played for Juventus. Casemiro is confident Madrid will not suffer a similar fate this season, as they prepare for the game as if it were a final.

"We know that tomorrow is the most important game of the year," he told the media. "We all know that tomorrow is a final. We have to face it as if it were a final.

"We've been taught at this club that you don't play finals, you win them. We're not thinking about anything other than winning.

"We know there is a good opponent and they're top of the group, so we have to respect that. But, we're going out to win."

As for Gladbach, the Bundesliga club are looking to reach the Champions League knockout phase for the first time at the third attempt, having previously failed to do so in 2015-16 and 2016-17.

Wafu B Cup of Nations: Ghana targeting revenge in Nigeria showdown

Black Satellites boss Abdul Karim Zito looks ahead to their opening match of the competition on Wednesday

Ghana have revenge on their minds as they take on archrivals Nigeria in their opening game of the 2020 Wafu B Cup of Nations in Benin, says head coach Abdul Karim Zito.

The Black Satellites are set to face the Flying Eagles at Stade de Gaules in Porto Novo at the sub-regional championship.

While Ghana drew a bye on matchday one of Group B's schedule of fixtures due to the group consisting of only three teams, Nigeria and Cote d'Ivoire settled for a 1-1 draw.

At their last meeting at the tournament two years ago, Ghana were handed a 4-2 defeat by Nigeria.

"There is a big rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria. So at all costs, we should make amendments [for the last defeat]," Zito told Footballmadeinghana.

"In football sometimes people say win, lose or draw. It's not about drawing, its winning, drawing or making amendments. We will have the opportunities to make amendments. Ghana have another opportunity to make amendments from the first 4-2 [defeat] they gave us.

“[Nigeria] is a team that is not tactically sound compared to Cote D’Ivoire but it [our chances] all depends on the team that we are going to play against. Maybe their motivation factor against Cote D’Ivoire will not be the same against Ghana.

“I will not take it [their threat] the way I saw it over there [against Cote d'Ivoire] but rather I will also build my own self against what I saw. We need a win out of two matches just to make it to the semi-final."

The Wafu B Championship serves as qualifiers for the 2021 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, with the two finalists in Benin securing participation tickets for the continental gathering.

The African event will, in turn, serve as qualifiers for the 2020 Fifa U20 World Cup, the four semi-finalists are set to represent the continent at the global gathering in Indonesia.

"We need Ghanaians to pray for us and keep supporting us," Ghana captain Daniel Afriyie said.

"Our training sessions have been intense and shows we are very serious. They should support us and we will deliver victory for them on Wednesday.

"They [Ghanaians] should not lose sleep over our qualifications chances. We will need them to pray for us. We will do everything possible to win the trophy for Ghana."

Ghana have set their sights on going all the way to play at the World Cup for the first time since 2015 when they reached the round of 16 in New Zealand.

Bengaluru FC and NorthEast United shared spoils in an exciting Indian Super League (ISL) clash on Tuesday at the Fatorda Stadium, Goa.

Luis Machado (4', 78') scored a brace for the Highlanders while Juanan Gonzalez (13') and Udanta Singh (70') netted for the Blues.

Gerard Nus made four changes to the NorthEast lineup which defeated East Bengal 2-0 in their last match. Dylan Fox, Lalrempuia Fanai, VP Suhar and Roccharzela replaced Mashoor Shereef, Lalengmawia, Ninthoinganba Meetei and Idrissa Sylla.

Carles Cuadrat, on the other hand, decided not to make any change in the Bengaluru lineup that defeated Chennaiyin in their last game.

NorthEast United took an early lead courtesy a brilliant move which was initiated by Luis Machado who found VP Suhair on the right flank with a long ball. Suhair did well to go past Ashique Kuruniyan before forwarding the ball to Rochharzela inside the box, who cut into the centre and took a shot. The ball was deflected off Machado's chest on its way into the net.

Bengaluru restored parity in an unusual manner in the 13th minute. A long throw-in from Rahul Bheke came off Dylan Fox's chest and Juanan slotted the ball in at the end of a melee inside the box.

Harmanjot Khabra should have handed Bengaluru the lead after he received a cross from Kuruniyan inside the box. The right-back was unmarked and had a clear sight of the goal but he took a touch, attempted the shot with his weaker foot and the ball went out.

It was end-to-end action in the first half with both teams creating chances to score.

A blunder from the Highlander's custodian could have Gurmeet Singh could have resulted in Bengaluru's second goal within the first minute of the second half. Singh casually played a short pass to Dylan Fox inside the box which Cleiton Silva intercepted but he failed to push the ball into an empty net.

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu denied Kwesi Appiah from increasing the lead in the 51st minute with a brilliant save. Suhair kept and inch-perfect cross inside the box for Appiah who kept his header on target but an acrobatic effort from Sandhu denied the Ghanian from scoring.

Another brilliant effort from Gurmeet Singh, on the other end, denied Bengaluru from taking the lead in the 63rd minute. The young goalkeeper managed to stop Kristian Opseth's shot from point-blank range.

The Blues finally took the lead in the 70th minute thanks to Dylan Fox's laziness inside the box. Paartalu had sent a cross inside the box which was kept in play by Chhetri. Fox had ample time to clear the ball but instead, he delayed which allowed Udanta to intercept and find the back of the net.

The away team restored parity in the 78th minute from a counter-attack. Idrissa Sylla flicked a long ball with the back of his head towards Machado who did well to beat Juanan and slot the ball home.

USMNT stars targeting dominant World Cup qualifying campaign

The former Red Devils assistant boss says the Frenchman's representative has caused "constant" problems at Old Trafford

Rene Meulensteen says Paul Pogba "needs to be stronger" with Mino Raiola, who he believes has put "unbelievable pressure" on the Manchester United star with his latest comments.

Raiola risked the wrath of those at United by speaking out on Pogba's future at Old Trafford ahead of a Champions League group-stage decider against RB Leipzig on Tuesday night.

The Italian claimed his client's time in Manchester will soon draw to a close  while also suggesting that the midfielder has been shackled by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's preferred tactical set-up during an explosive interview with Tuttosport .

Pogba's representative, who brokered his move to Juventus in 2012, has made regular comments since the 27-year-old's return to United four years ago, and Meulensteen thinks he has gone too far this time.

The Dutchman is well aware of Raiola's influence having worked as Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant in his final years as manager, and is not surprised that he has popped up again before the Red Devils' biggest game of the season to date.

Meulensteen would like to see Pogba stand up to the 53-year-old businessman so that future distractions can be avoided, as he told talkSPORT : “I always knew that Sir Alex wasn’t too keen to get involved with agents, but he also realised the influence of the agents was getting bigger.

“It’s been a constant thing that has run through his [Pogba’s] entire time at Man Utd; when Jose Mourinho was there the same issues came up. This is really poor timing. Even if he feels like that, the player needs to be stronger with his agent, what they can say and when they can say it.

"He scored a goal, so what a surprise he comes out with it now, but it puts such unbelievable pressure on him. If Solskjaer decides to play Pogba tonight, it puts loads of pressure on him [Solskjaer] as well.”

Meulensteen added on the prospect of a World Cup winner leaving the club next year: “Every fan at every club wants players who play for the club to be committed.

“This needs to be dealt with in-house very quickly, otherwise it keeps going on and on.”

The former United coach went on to discuss the team's recent form under Solskjaer, who has come in for plenty of criticism at the start of the 2020-21 campaign.

Meulensteen feels Bruno Fernandes has been carrying the team in recent weeks, with a 3-1 win over West Ham on Saturday, which saw Pogba draw United level, considered to be the latest in a long line of unconvincing victories.

“It’s a long-term thing and we’re two years in, but that game summed up the whole of Solskjaer’s time at United so far,” he said. "First half, they were miles off; second half, they weren’t too far off. Man Utd are always under the magnifying glass, even though every top-six club has problems.

“If you take the best two players out of every team, they will struggle, and you could see how much United are relying on Bruno Fernandes to get a performance.

“As soon as he isn’t there, they fall into a slow, pedestrian pace, with no runs in behind and no penetration. If you want to win trophies and leagues, you need to be consistent. United has a team with bags of individual talent.

“They are team that can turn up and beat any team but also lose to any team. Every time you wonder which United is going to turn up.”

Batoto ba Mungu had appealed the case stating it was unlawful but have failed to convince the jury to rule in their favour

The Football Kenya Federation Independent Disciplinary and Appeals Committee (FKFIDA) has dismissed Sofapaka's appeal over former player Wycliffe Kasaya's case and ordered a Ksh 1.6 million compensation to be made as earlier ruled.

"The Player filed a suit against the club at the Player Status Committee on December 11, 2018. The contention at the first instance of proceedings was that the club had failed to pay the player his salary for three consecutive months, and had unilaterally terminated his contract which was valid from June 2, 2018, up to May 31, 2020."

Furthermore, the player claimed that the club was preventing him from moving on to a new club by denying him a release letter that would enable his new club to secure his registration for the new season.

The committee also ordered the club to pay the player KShs. 1,610,000.00 in damages comprising unpaid salary for October 2018, three months’ salary in lieu of notice, and compensation for the balance of the term of the prematurely terminated contract.

The club being aggrieved by the Player Status Committee decision filed an appeal on February 21, 2019.

Batoto ba Mungu failed to win the appeal which they felt was not lawful.

"[Sofapaka] was unable to demonstrate that there exists significant fact or evidence which the Player Status Committee failed to take into account and that such fact or evidence was of such a decisive nature that it would probably have led to a different decision or outcome had it been considered," read part of the ruling as obtained by Goal.

"Based on the foregoing, the Appeal Committee unanimously makes the following declarations: the Petition is dismissed and each party shall bear its own costs."

Kasaya has since celebrated his win urging players not to be ashamed to get their justice.

"I want to encourage players who will see this, do not be ashamed to stand up for your right," the goalkeeper said in a statement.

"Do not be afraid to speak up even if you are alone. It's high time players stand up for their right as long as you follow the right procedures."

Atletico Madrid Target Emiliano Buendia Insists He's Happy at Norwich

Striker Brian Aheebwa was the man of the match after scoring four goals and creating two

KCCA have gone top of the Ugandan Premier League (UPL) table after whitewashing Onduparaka FC 8-0 on Tuesday.

The 13-time champions scored their goals courtesy of Brian Aheebwa who scored four goals, and Samuel Ssenyodo who scored a hat-trick, with the remaining goal coming from Herbert Achai.

New boy Aheebwa needed just 17 minutes to introduce himself to the home ground. Samuel Ssenyodo managed to keep-off the defenders before picking the striker who clinically finished the move for a 1-0 win in favour of the Kasasiro Boys.

Five minutes later, poor positioning by the goalkeeper allowed Herbert Achai's cross, come shot, deep into the goal to double the advantage in favour of the champions.

The Caterpillars were not yet done; Ssenyonjo, who was involved in the two early goals, put his name on the scoresheet when Aheebwa picked him. It was the fifth goal for the youngster in six recent games in all competitions.

Ssenyonjo was not done; in the 37th minute, Aheebwa found space and unleashed a fierce strike which the goalkeeper spilt. The ball fell on the path of the former and he managed to complete his brace.

It got worse for the visitors who went into the break trailing by five goals. Andrew Kigozi was brought down in the danger zone seconds to the break, and Aheebwa held his nerve to score.

Ssenyonjo completed his hat-trick in the 56th minute when Keziron Kizito picked him. The former kept his cool to beat the goalkeeper and score the sixth goal for the Garbage Collectors.

10 minutes later, it was the turn of Aheebwa to complete his hat-trick as well, this time around capitalising on defensive lapses that came around due to frustration.

The unstoppable Aheebwa scored his fourth in the 74th minute to ensure KCCA led 8-0 with about 10 minutes to go.

In other matches played on Tuesday, Police FC defeated Myda 3-1. Ben Ocen scored a brace for the Cops with another goal coming from Eric Ssenjobe. The hosts, who are making their debut in the UPL, scored their goal through Nsimbe.

Wakiso Giants drew 2-2 with their visitors Kyetume while BUL defeated Busoga 3-1. URA FC and Bright Stars settled for a goalless draw.

Fred has proven that he's so much more than a midfield anchor

The 51-year-old helped K'Ogalo to the next round of Africa's elite competition after a 4-3 aggregate win

Gor Mahia are desperately keen on winning the services of Sammy Omollo on a permanent basis.

The Posta Rangers man was acquired as a strand-in coach to guide K'Ogalo in the first preliminary round of the Caf Champions League against APR Rwanda. The Confederation of African Football (Caf) banned current coach Roberto Oliveira Goncalves for not having Caf A coaching qualification papers.

The 51-year-old has since helped K'Ogalo safely seal a passage to the second preliminary round after a 4-3 aggregate win over the Rwandan champions.

"The Gor Mahia management was impressed with the way Omollo helped the team in the two games," a source close to the club and coach told Goal on Tuesday.

"They have approached the coach hoping to convince him to stay but the problem is his contract with Posta Rangers. Remember there was an agreement between the two clubs and not the club and the coach."

When reached for comment, the former Kenya international defender explained how the situation is.

"Gor Mahia would have loved me to continue serving them, unfortunately, I have a binding contract with my team Posta Rangers," Omollo told Goal.

"I came to help Gor Mahia because it was a gentleman's agreement between the two chairmen [John Tonui and Ambrose Rachier].

"Whether I will be in charge in the next preliminary round of the competition or not depends on my team and Gor Mahia of course."

After eliminating the Army, K'Ogalo will play Algerian side CR Belouizdad.

The North Africa side reached the next round after a 4-0 aggregate win against Al Nasr of Libya. The Algerian champions won the first leg away in Tripoli 2-0 and returned home to complete the job with another 2-0 win.

According to the Confederation of African Football (Caf), the first leg will be played on December 22 or 23 in Algeria, with the return leg planned for January 5 or 6, 2021 in Nairobi.

The last time Gor Mahia played against an Algerian opponent was in 2019 when they were drawn to face USM Alger in the same competition.

USM Alger came to Nairobi and beat K’Ogalo 4-1 and returned home in Algiers to win the return leg 2-0 and advanced to the next round with a 6-1 aggregate scoreline.

The two teams also met in the Confederation Cup in the 2018 season with the first leg staged in Kenya ending in a 0-0 draw before USM Alger won the return leg 2-1 at home to advance 2-1 on aggregate.

Jurgen Klopp on whether Fabinho, Alisson & Diogo Jota could feature against Chelsea

Hansi Flick has confirmed that the Canadian full-back will be in his squad when Lokomotiv Moscow arrive at Allianz Arena

Alphonso Davies is in line to return to action for Bayern Munich in the Champions League after making a full recovery from an ankle injury.

Davies has missed Bayern's last nine matches across all competitions while working his way back to full fitness with the club's medical team.

The 20-year-old sustained ligament damage during a 5-0 Bundesliga victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in October, and subsequently underwent an extensive rehabilitation programme behind the scenes.

Hansi Flick resigned himself to being without the Canada International for eight weeks, but welcomed him back into full training ahead of schedule last week.

Although the Bayern boss opted against including a prized asset in a top-of-the-table clash against RB Leipzig on Saturday, he has confirmed that he is planning to recall him when Lokomotiv Moscow arrive at Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.

Flick told reporters ahead of his side's final Group A encounter: "Alphonso Davies will be back in the squad tomorrow, which is good news.

"We are planning to play him, but we've not yet decided if he will start or come off the bench."

Pressed further on his selection plans, Flick revealed that Corentin Tolisso is also nearing a comeback, but he will likely have to wait until Saturday's clash with Union Berlin before being handed any competitive minutes.

"Alongside Leon Goretzka, we'll have Marc Roca, Angelo Stiller and Maximilian Zaiser in the squad," said Flick.

"Corentin Tolisso trained really well today so he could be an option for Saturday, which would really help us."

The 55-year-old added on the threat Lokomotiv Moscow will pose Bayern: "Lokomotiv Moscow play good football, especially up front. They can combine well on the ball when they have space.

"We need to deny them that space and stay compact."

Bayern are already safely through to the Champions League knockout stages having recorded four wins and one draw in their group, and they made sure of top spot by picking up a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid at Wanda Metropolitano on matchday five.

Gonzalez: Simba SC will succeed because of proper investment

The Spaniard says that he will pick a side to beat the Ligue 1 side in their final group game and that he's not thinking about the derby clash

Pep Guardiola says he will not rest players for the Champions League clash with Marseille, despite having the Manchester Derby just three days later.

Manchester City have already secured a place in the knockout stages of Europe's premier club competition after finishing top of Group C with a game to spare.

Guardiola says he has an almost full squad to choose from, with Sergio Aguero in contention for a place on the bench after stepping up his recovery from injury.

"We are going to decide [on Aguero]. Maybe he will be on the bench, we’ll see his reaction tomorrow in his body, not just his knee," the City boss said.

"The last two or three days he’s been part of the training and the reaction and the niggles from the recent past have disappeared.

"Everyone has played a lot of minutes so we’ll play the game to win. I don’t rotate the team, I try to put in the players in the best condition, decide the best [line-up] for specific teams, there’s not one team for one competition and one for another.

"Everyone was involved in last few days and that’s good in this tight schedule, everyone has to be ready."

While City's European progress has been straightforward, Saturday's opponents Manchester United face a make-or-break clash against RB Leipzig on Tuesday night.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team need a point from their game in Germany to join City in the last 16 but despite the intensity of their final group game, Guardiola says it doesn't hand his side an advantage.

"They’ll be focused today and when the next game is a derby they will still be focused," he added. "That’s my experience."

Guardiola has been mindful of protecting his squad all season with the hectic schedule increasing the risk of injuries.

But the City boss insisted that the players which face Marseille are capable of forcing their way into his thoughts for the game at Old Trafford.

"The team that plays tomorrow, they can play against United, or maybe not," he said. "I want to win this game, it’s not because of one more day, or one less.

"In previous Christmas times we had less days, tomorrow we have the chance to win and then on Thursday or Friday we will think about United."

Over 60,000 fans to attend Euro 2020 semi-finals & final as Wembley gets green light for 75 per cent capacity

The so-called super agent has been talking up the qualities of one of his clients, with an enigmatic Swede considered to be a “complete player”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has “the talent of Lionel Messi and the willpower of Cristiano Ronaldo”, says Mino Raiola, with the AC Milan striker told he would have eight Ballons d’Or if a public vote determined the recipient of that prize.

An enigmatic Swede has never been in contention for the most prestigious of individual accolades.

He has made the long list of nominees in the past, but has failed to make it into the top three or anywhere near a Golden Ball.

Messi and Ronaldo, meanwhile, have shared 11 successes between them, with a Barcelona superstar edging out his eternal rival to sit on a record-setting six triumphs.

Raiola believes Ibrahimovic’s exploits would have been recognised had voting power been taken out of the hands of professionals and placed into those of an adoring fan base.

He considers the Rossoneri star, who is still going strong at 39 years of age, to be “the most complete player ever”, with his enviable haul of trophies and 558 career goals considered to be an indicator of that.

“I immediately say that between Cristiano Ronaldo, of whom I’m a big fan, and Messi, I’ll always pick the Portuguese,” Raiola told Tuttosport.

“Zlatan, on the other hand, is from another planet in his own right. He is the most complete player ever in the history of football.

“He has the talent of Messi and the willpower of CR7. If the Ballon d’Or had been voted for by the public, I know he would have won eight.”

Ibrahimovic is currently turning out for Milan alongside another of Raiola’s clients, highly-rated goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The 21-year-old has seen a move away from San Siro mooted in the past and is set to see his current contract expire in the summer of 2021.

Raiola remains coy when it comes to a possible extension for the Italy international, with all options set to be weighed up before committing to any one club.

“He’s a Milan player at the moment, then we’ll see,” Raiola added.

“For sure, Gigio is no longer the one he was four years ago and there are many who ask about him. But I’ll stop here. I don’t want that it becomes a media renewal like last time [when a last extension was signed in 2017].”

'I don't think about the Europa League' - Real Madrid 'know what is at stake' against Gladbach, says Zidane

The Blancos boss says his players are determined to play a "great game" when the German outfit arrive at Santiago Bernabeu

Real Madrid "know what is at stake" against Borussia Monchengladbach, according to Zinedine Zidane, who says has not contemplated the possibility of his team dropping into the Europa League.

The Spanish side face the distinct prospect of missing out on qualifying for the last-16 stage of the Champions League after a 2-0 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk last week saw them slump to third place in Group B.

Madrid's loss was their second in the competition this season - they have never lost three times in a single group stage.

Their worrying lack of form in Europe had coincided with a tricky start to their La Liga title defence too, though the pressure on Zidane was eased somewhat by Saturday's 1-0 win away at Sevilla

Still, the Frenchman knows the importance of Wednesday's home game against Gladbach, who start the final round of fixtures sitting pretty in top spot.

"It is a different game because we know the situation," Zidane told the media.

"We want to add the three points and finish the round on top [of the group]. We have all that in mind. All the games are important, but it is a good opportunity to show what we are as a team."

Asked if he feared for his job if they fail to make it through, he replied: "The club will do what it has to do, as always. I only think about Wednesday's game."

There remains the prospect of Madrid dropping into the Europa League if they finish in their current position, though Zidane insists his players are used to the pressure that comes with playing for the club.

"I don't think about the Europa League, I don't contemplate anything else. The players are the same. You [the media] can think and give your opinion, it's your job. We only think about playing a great game," Zidane said.

"All the players and the club are used to playing under pressure. We are used to playing games like this. We know what is at stake.

"We have to manage our emotions and above all prepare things well. The important thing is that inside we prepare the game well."

In his 13 seasons in the Champions League as both a player and manager, Zidane has only been eliminated at the group stage once, which was with Juventus back in 2000.

Gladbach know a draw will be good enough to send them through to the knockout stages, while Shakhtar and Inter also remain in with a chance of progressing from a tightly contested group.

‘As daft as it sounds, Man Utd are in title mix’ – Neville discusses Red Devils’ claims to crown

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have climbed to fifth, with a game in hand, but a club legend doubts a challenge for the ultimate prize can be sustained

Gary Neville admits that Manchester United have put themselves in the Premier League title mix, “as daft as that sounds”, but the Red Devils legend is not expecting a challenge for the crown to be sustained.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have clambered into fifth spot in the English top-flight table.

They are only five points off the pace being set by Tottenham and Liverpool and still boast a game in hand on all of those above them – having taken in a delayed start to their 2020-21 campaign.

Efforts on the road, which have delivered five successive comeback victories, are helping to make United competitive.

A reversal in fortune at Old Trafford could see them become serious contenders for the ultimate prize, eight years after Sir Alex Ferguson toasted the last of his 13 successes, but Neville believes the usual suspects will start to edge clear in time.

The United legend told Sky Sports on an intriguing tussle for domestic supremacy: “I think he’s [Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho] got a chance because there’s no doubt Liverpool and Manchester City are not where they were.

“Losing [Virgil] Van Dijk, I think Liverpool win this league at a canter if Van Dijk is fit. I really do, nobody can get near them.

“I still think Liverpool will win the league but there are little things going against them that haven’t in the last couple of years. The same for Manchester City and that makes it interesting.

Chelsea and Tottenham are looking at them thinking, ‘Hmm, they’re not right and we’re okay here, we’re just starting to hit form, we’re building spirit, we’re getting closer to them’ and I think that is giving confidence to them.

“Even Manchester United - Manchester United players will be sat there thinking ‘We could have a chance if we play like we could’, as daft as that sounds because I don’t think they will win the league.

“That’s what this season is doing to us because the top two [Liverpool and City] have set a bar that we’ve never seen before and now we are starting to see something more normal.”

United’s focus is currently locked on Champions League duty as they seek to pick up the positive result at RB Leipzig that will carry them into the last 16, but they will get a chance to show their title credentials on Saturday when taking in a derby date with City at Old Trafford.
