It is best known for its football team, which plays in the Primera División, the first tier of the Argentine football league system. San Lorenzo is also considered one of the "big five" ("Los 5 Grandes") of Argentine football by Argentine press, with Independiente, River Plate, Boca Juniors, and Racing Club.

San Lorenzo plays its home games at Estadio Pedro Bidegain, popularly known as Nuevo Gasómetro. The stadium and sports facilities are located in Bajo Flores district of the Buenos Aires, considered one of the most dangerous neighborhoods of Buenos Aires. The club's previous stadium was the Viejo Gasómetro, located in the Boedo district. After the match was played there in 1979, the Gasómetro was expropriated by the de facto Governmentof Argentina and then sold to chain of supermarkets Carrefour. The club currently has five headquarters: three in Boedo, one in Monserrat, and one at Bajo Flores, all of them in the city of Buenos Aires. San Lorenzo also plans to expand its main seat on La Plata Avenue, while a 15-hectare campus in Ezeiza is projected to develop an olympic football program.

El Club Atlético Rosario Central, conocido simplemente como Rosario Central, es una entidad deportiva argentina de la ciudad de Rosario,​ en la provincia de Santa Fe, cuya actividad principal es el fútbol. Actualmente milita en la Primera División de Argentina y disputa sus partidos como local en el estadio Gigante de Arroyito.

En la institución también se practican otras disciplinas, como Hockey sobre césped, baloncesto, patinaje, boxeo, taekwondo, tenis, fútsal, fútbol playa, voleibol y natación, entre otros.

En el año 1905 —con la fundación de la Liga Rosarina de Fútbol— el club finalmente pudo desarrollar su actividad principal. De la misma, se separó en dos ocasiones: la primera en 1913 en donde participó de la disidente Federación Rosarina de Football, mientras que la segunda fue entre 1920 y 1921 en donde fue parte de la también disidente Asociación Amateurs Rosarina de Football. Entre 1931 y 1938 fue miembro de la Asociación Rosarina de Fútbol, donde disputó sus primeros campeonatos profesionales. Entre estos tres períodos, que van desde 1905 hasta 1938, Rosario Central totalizó quince campeonatos locales​, tres copas rosarinas oficiales y cinco Copas nacionales oficiales de la AFA.

Club Atlético Newell's Old Boys is an Argentine sports club based in Rosario, Santa Fe. The club was founded on 3 November 1903, and is named after Isaac Newell, from the English county of Kent, one of the pioneers of Argentine football.

Originally a member of Rosario's Football Association, Newell's affiliated to the Argentine Football Association (AFA) in 1939. They were the 2013 champions in Argentine football, and have won AFA's Primera División six times throughout their history. Newell's has also been twice Copa Libertadores runner-up (in 1988 and 1992).

The club's football stadium is the Estadio Marcelo Bielsa, named after the team's former player and manager Marcelo Bielsa (twice champion, and runner-up of one Copa Libertadores). Newell's plays the Rosario derby against Rosario Central, a club with which they have a huge historical rivalry.

El 9 de julio de 1903, en oportunidad de enfrentar al Club Atlético Salteño (hoy Gimnasia y Tiro de Salta), se convirtió en el primer equipo del país, incluso antes que la Selección Argentina, en usar la camiseta celeste y blanca a franjas verticales. Esto fue confirmado por el CIHF en el año 2003.

El 30 de enero de 1960, obtuvo su primer título a nivel nacional al consagrarse campeón de la Copa de Campeones de la República. Luego de este título jugó un partido con la Selección Argentina (empató 2 a 2) y vendió prácticamente todo su plantel al fútbol metropolitano. El equipo era dirigido por Don Roberto Santillán.

The club had their first major success in the 1975–76 season, becoming the first team from the state of Nuevo Leon to win a trophy by conquering the Copa MX. The team was the 2015 Copa Libertadores runner-up, losing the finals against River Plate.

Tigres is the official team of the public University of the state of Nuevo León, the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. Their home is the 41,650 capacity Estadio Universitario, located inside the University complex in San Nicolás de los Garza. The team's traditional kit colours are gold and blue.

It is one of the two professional football teams of Nuevo León. Tigres have a fierce rivalry with Monterrey, with whom they have contested the Clásico Regiomontano since 1974.

Since 1904 the city of Puebla has practiced football. First in 1904 with club Puebla AC founded by Englishmen who integrated into the Mexican football league during the amateur era. In 1944 and 1949, Puebla FC gained second, third and three fourth-place finishes in league play; in the 1944–1945 season , they won their first Copa México, thereby paving the road for one of the great football clubs in Mexico. During the 1953–54 season, they managed their second Copa México title. Puebla took home their first league title in the 1982–83 season after defeating Guadalajara on penalty kicks. A third Copa México was accomplished after the 1987–88 season, and in the 1989–90 season they won both their fourth Copa México and their second league title after beating Universidad de Guadalajara. This feat (winning both the league and the Copa México championships) earned the team the right to be counted among the exclusive "Campeónísimo" club. In 1991, they defeated Police from Trinidad and Tobago for their first CONCACAF championship.

The team was originally based in the town of Jasso (now part of the "city cooperative" Ciudad Cooperativa Cruz Azul), south of Tula de Allende in the state of Hidalgo. The team moved to Mexico City in 1971 to play at the Estadio Azteca. Its current home venue is the Estadio Azul, located in the southwestern part of Mexico City in the Colonia Ciudad de los Deportes, adjacent the Nápoles neighborhood. Its headquarters are in La Noria, a suburb within Xochimilco in the southern part of Mexico City. Cruz Azul will return to the Estadio Azteca in 2018.
